1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Heroic Nature Embroidery on: September 22, 2011 04:13:22 PM
I loved this so much I had to call everyone in my house in the room to see it, lol.  I love how you first notice the pretty flowers, then you start reading it and it seems like some sweet reflection, then BAM, George Carlin. Haha!!

Cute cute CUTE!! Made the mistake of letting my 5 yr old daughter see it and now she WANTS it! lol.  Ingenius idea of using safety eyes to make poseable joints! LOVE the detail with the spots & 'freckles' and the felted ground is awesome!  Thanks so much for sharing =)

Love this, it has SO much personality!!  My fave part is how the yarn seems to 'fold' perfectly to make the contours of his body!

10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Three Little Mermaids on: May 05, 2011 05:39:38 PM
Three Little Mermaids, made as gifts for my daughter, God-daughter and niece who are four, six, and three.

These ladies were quite a challenge!  Their hair is threaded form the inside of the scalp, done when the head was about halfway finished (because all mermaids need long flowing hair) and of course tons of jewels!  I used little plastic pearl beads and jewels and different things I had in my button jar, little black buttons for eyes and embroidered lashes and mouths.

The body is elongated by increasing every other row, with rows of even stitches in between, then decreasing in the same manner when you get to the desired width.  Tails are basic amigurumi leaf shapes sewn on to each side of the bottom of the body.

I made up the pattern as I went and didn't write it out, so I worked on each one a little at a time, keeping them at the same stages.  First heads, then bodies, etc so I wouldn't forget what I had done by the time I got to the next one.

They were a huge hit with the girls, and we get comments on them everywhere we go.  =)
