1  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / An Outfit a Week Summer Project on: May 26, 2010 09:12:24 AM
Hello! This is a sew-along type thing...

My goal...and yours too if you'd like...is to create one complete, unique outfit each week this summer.

Here are my guidelines:

1. I've gotta sew a complete outfit each week. Bottoms and shirt or dress.
2. Include jewelry, bag, or something of the sort.
3. Design it before I make it. As in, draw a picture (I've gotta get my designing skills down)
4. I've got to wear the complete outfit sometime the following week and snap a photo to prove it!
5. Document to whole stinkin' thing!!!!!!!!

I'm excited!

If you'd like to join me just send me your blog, website, or just post your outfits here!

This could be really fun!

Like I said, I will be posting everything on my blog.

2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Woodland Whatsit Costume on: January 22, 2010 09:50:47 PM
So, Lemme tell you, winter break was rather dull. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my family and Friends to death. But crafty girls can't NOT craft.
So, here's what I did over break.

This is the scaly, feather, leaf dress.

Paper mache horns and undershirts reconstructed from a cream turtleneck and the wrap one was an old jacket!

The whole outfit. The pants, the dress, the two undershirts, the shoes, and the belt with the pouch.

The pants with the hand made and hand-embroidered shoes.

Phew! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Thanks lovelies!

Oh, and I was just talking about how I grew up on Craftster. I remember things I posted on here when I was in jr. high. Now I'm about to start the second semester of college and I still follow Craftster faithfully. You guys were seriously my anti-drug.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Zip Pocket Messenger, Vera Bradley style. on: January 04, 2010 06:08:27 PM
Hi! I feel as though I haven't posted on Craftster in a long time! And I haven't posted on THIS board in FOREVER! So, here I go.

I've been eying the Vera Bradley ( http://www.verabradley.com)"Hipsters" for a long time an I finally made one. Well. Kinda. Haha. Well, I just really liked the quilted look and simple shape of a Vera Bradley bag a LOT so I thought I'd invent my own style.

So, here is the "Zip Pocket Messenger" A cute, simple, quilted bag with one purpose: holding your wallet and keys (and notebook, and pens, and lip gloss, and iPod....)

I loved the pink and floral srtipe stuff going on but I am SO not a pink floral type of girl so I toughened it up with an industrial-style zipper.

(There are also two small pockets inside so I won't lose my lip gloss because I ALWAYS do.)
I hope you love it!

Thanks for looking,
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re-Used Fashion (photo hefty) on: July 27, 2009 12:49:13 PM

Well, I graduated high school this year and am going on to study Art (and music) at a university this fall. I thought it would be very cool to do a "senior project" this summer. Well, since I'm rather green, I decided to take recycle-able goods such as garbage bags and old newspapers and stitch (and tape) together a fashion collection. So I took these dresses and a few good girl friends out to a warehouse and took a butt load of pictures with them. here are some so you can see the dresses. I got a lot of REALLY cool face shots and such, but I'm posting in the clothing sections so, unless you're friends with me on face book (ha ha) tough luck.
The girls all worked together on each other's hair and makeup (for about 2 hours!)

Andrea in a garbage dress with broken CDs running up her neck.

Anna in a newspaper dress with garbage bag sleeves and a newspaper clutch purse.

Emily in a halter of garbage bags with soda can flowers.

Grace in a skirt of newspapers and a garbage bag tank with a "diamond" necklace:

Kelli in a garbage bag dress with a comic strip corset:

Stephanie in a garbage bag dress with the cinch-ties as stripes:

Me with the group! I love them!

that's all! Questions? Comments?

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Are You Underwater? Photography on: July 15, 2009 04:20:34 PM
Hello. So, my friend Emily got inspiration from Drew Barrymore and Emmy Rossum to do a water photo shoot. So she came over and I took some pictures of her with my new Canon Rebel!
I edited them all using Photoshop Elements.

So there you go!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Erin's Summer Clothing! on: June 22, 2009 03:30:15 PM
Hi. Half of my family was gone in Mexico....they just got back last night! I am soooo happy.
But, I made a lot of clothing.
Me and my dear friend went out in the deadly heat to take pictures in a lovely wildflower field.

Piece No. 1: Linen vest. So, as I may have said before....I LOVE Safari looks this summer! This linen vest is a mix of my own design and one of www.toast.co.uk's design.
No. 2: Zip-up floral corset/bustier/shirt/top/thing. It's not bone or anything but it fits and looks like a corset.
No. 3: Pink dress. This dress has a rose on the front! I had to sew it onto Kelli! Ha. I also made a sash for it, but I liked the leather belt better.
No. 4: White tank. Easy, breezy, beautiful tank top. It's so flowey and sheer...I love it!
No. 5: Plaid skirt. Knee-length. Pocket. That's all.
No. 6: Belt. It's a ribbon sewn over an old belt buckle.
(I also made those cut-off shorts)

That's all! Comments?

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Fille D'charpe or Scarf Girl! on: June 20, 2009 01:22:50 PM
I painted the basic picture a while ago but was never really satisfied with it (she had a five o'clock shadow as my dad lovingly pointed out). Well, I pulled it back out a few days ago and re-painted her face shadows. I always had the idea of the long, trailing the scarf.

That's all!
Thanks for looking.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my de la sac dress! (ways to wear it pics) on: June 04, 2009 01:18:24 PM
This lovely craftster had this post!
I looked at the AA website and figured out how to make my own. So....here it is!

Thanks for looking!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / MAXImum dress. on: May 20, 2009 02:04:17 PM
So, whenever I think about maxi dresses I think about maxi pads. ha.
I dyed my dress pink and painted or inked (?) darker pink stripes lengthwise...unfortunately, you can't really see so well.
It's the first maxi dress I made and I think it turned out quite well!
It has braided straps and rouching in the back. It's also a tad lower than empire waist.

I was having fun mixing outfits...so don't mind the moccasins....I don't know what I was thinking!

Thanks for looking!

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / ZINES! on: May 20, 2009 08:36:02 AM
So. This is a topic that is miscellaneous.

I know that many of you either make Zines or read Zines.

I want to see them!

I am working on starting a short-run zine with my friends this summer and I need inspiration!

Discuss, share, show me please!
