1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Bead and wire pendant on: March 06, 2005 07:02:13 PM
Thanks everyone!  Glad you like it.
I'm just starting to get into wires and I really suck at it so far.
I know what you mean, in spite of that semi-decent looking pendant!   I can't quite figure out the right way to wrap the wire around without bending the wire I'm wrapping onto.  ( I spent a lot of time straightening that rectangle back into shape in the second pic) I seem to recall reading (somewhere) that bent chain nose pliers are helpful for wrapping - does anyone know if that's true, or have any hints or tricks?

Here's my first attempt at bead and wire jewelry.  I really wanted to make one after I saw a picture of this necklace in the book Beads and Wire: Jewelry and Decorative Items for the Home .
Here's the first one I did:

The rectangle was a little too wonky, (It was a  birthday gift)  so I took that pendant apart, and remade it into this:

It's made with 18 gauge wire and glass beads.  The pendant hangs on a leather cord that closes with a claw clasp and jump ring.

Beautifully done!  I love both the style and the color combo.

Yay!  I'm glad to see the finished product!  Well done...I never thought Weinhard caps could look so good.  Grin

My paltry ideas:

Kitchen magnets: Along the lines of fruits and veggies, what about a set w/ wine and/or cheese and/or grapes? (sort of that "Tuscan" decor, I suppose)   Baked goods (cupcakes/cookies/cakes),vintage looking kitchen appliances (mixer, blender, etc).

what would match your kitchen?(for the magnets)
My kitchen has spring green (wall), pale yellow(well, as soon as I paint the rest of the walls), and a touch of orange (curtains).

Really lovely stuff!
Another place you might have a look at for chain is Fusion Beads:  www.fusionbeads.com.  I haven't actually ordered online from them, but only because I live about 5 minutes away from the store! They've got a nice selection of items, and the employees are very helpful.

... standard loop pins you find at the craft store.

Thanks!  Of course!  I'm such a dork!   Embarrassed  Must work on my reading comprehension!

In any case, I can't wait to see more of your creations!
