31  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Baby Bean's Toddler Quilt on: July 15, 2016 01:43:06 PM
It took me forever, but I finally finished my daughter's quilt for her toddler bed.  Its a simple design, but I'm a simple sewer.  My daughter's room has base colors of black, white, and gray with bright colored accents.

And here is a picture of the top without the binding and back.

32  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / You Are So Loved! on: July 15, 2016 01:34:12 PM
My kids' new playroom needed some art.  I wanted something Harry Potter-ish without it being super Harry Potter since that wasn't the theme of the room.  I absolutely love this quote from Harry Potter.  In the movie, Harry's mom whispers it to Harry right before she dies.  I use to snuggle my youngest when she was a baby and say it to her, too.  So, it is now immortalized in their playroom.

I started with a large thick sheet of watercolor paper from Hobby Lobby.  I applied watercolors in a gradient fashion.  On top, once all was dry, I wrote the quote on to the paper with pencil and then black acrylic paint over that.  Popped it into a frame and VIOLA!  ART!

33  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Doc McStuffins Painted Toddler Shoes on: July 15, 2016 12:43:59 PM
A mommy friend and I were doing a meet-up and decided to swap homemade gifts for our toddlers who are only 3 days apart in age.  I decided to do what I'm good at, and painted her some shoes.  Violet loves Doc McStuffins, and more specifically Lambie.  She has a Lambie stuffed animal that she carries around with her everywhere.

This time I did something a little different and did glitter on the shoes.  For the glitter I did a base coat of the magenta pink color fabric paint so the mod podge and glitter would stick better to the canvas shoe.  Then, it was a few layers of glitter and mod podge ending with glitter ontop so they would be super glittery.  The rest of the shoes were painted with Tulip soft fabric paint.  I was pretty excited that I found the exact color of glitter I wanted at Hobby Lobby.  Woot!

34  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Crafster Card Swap (SignUps 7/15/16-7/29/16, Sendouts 8/15/16) on: July 15, 2016 12:17:47 PM
This looks like fun!  I will have to ponder whether I could get something done with a 1 month old baby and toddler.  Hmmm.  I will think for a day or two.

I get impatient when I do watercolors and generally grab my embossing heat gun and dry it quick with that so I can go into the next step. Who has time for waiting for things to dry the regular way?!

37  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Painted Sugar Skull Shoes! on: March 22, 2016 12:41:05 PM
Your sister doesn't need those! I DO! LOL! Those are so fab!

If you are a size 6.5 then you can come fight her for them. Wink

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! Wish I had more time for shoe painting. Between a toddler and a couple months away from baby #2, time is in short supply.
38  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Painted Sugar Skull Shoes! on: March 21, 2016 01:18:16 PM
My sister requested some painted sugar skull shoes for her birthday.  I found a cute pair of Vans, though they had a colored stripe pattern all over them.  I wasn't sure if I was going to manage painting over the stripes, but it worked in the end!  I used the soft Tulip fabric paint and brushes to do these shoes.  I painted over just the fronts and left the stripes on the sides.

And here is what they looked like before I painted them.
