2291  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My Sister's Strip Quilt on: December 12, 2011 10:06:50 AM
After much planning and thinking, and some doing, I finished my sister's Christmas present.  It is a lap quilt for her living room, in which her colors are bright blue, grey, white and black.  Normally my mom helps me out with my quilting projects, but I'm now a quilting big girl and did it all by myself.  The results on the back aren't great, A LOT of puckering, but the top turned out good.  And its soft and cozy and will be perfect so long as she doesn't display it bottom side up.  And since I love all of you, I will show you the back despite my utter hate for it.

Here it is on my bed.  I used 5 different fabrics and did long strips in varying sizes.  The final measurements ended to be about 57"x42".

A better view of the fabrics I used.

Here is the stitch I used for the machine quilting and my horrible puckered up back.  I used flannel for the back.

All folded up and ready to be wrapped!

It does look quite good on my bed.  ^_^

Thanks for looking!

Yay, I'm glad you like 'em!

I received some beauties from Robinpich for the last two letters of my last name: COMPOGNO.  She did an AMAZING job!!!  Take a look!

Aren't they so pretty!!!  I love the vibrant watercolors on the backgrounds.  So freakin' cool!!

And a plethora of extras!

And now, drum roll please, my completed last name:

So cool!!  I love how it came out!  Thank you all you wonderful craftsters!  <3  Now I just need to decide how I want to display them!  They were resting on a lap quilt I am working on for my sister for the picture.

Mr.BearBox wasn't 5 inches though Grin  I suppose it is still do able at the 5 inch....

It could be a jewelry box size. Oooo, it would be so cute to have a stuffie, like a moose or reindeer on which you could hang earrings, rings or bracelets off! Oh the ideas!!!

I think its a fabulous idea!  I'd help out as a co-organizer, too, if needed.  I'm on my second swap as an organizer, so I do have a little experience now.  ^_^
