41  Toddler Skirts! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by jillybeans on: September 25, 2015 04:25:51 PM
I made baby bean and a couple other toddlers I know some skirts.  They were pretty quick and really fun to make!  I definitely will be making more for baby soon!

The ruffle skirts were the easiest.  I got the material in the remnant bins at the fabric store.  The fabric doesn't fray when you cut it, so you can leave the raw edges at the bottom.  And its stretchy, so it can be sewn directly onto the elastic.

The cotton prints were a little more time intensive.  I cut the panels as long as I could, so generally 44-45" and 9" for the length.  I serged the top and bottom of the cotton prints and left the bottom surged edge as is to save me some time from having to do a fold over hem.  I did a gather stitch on the top edge and gathered it a bit to make it easier to attach to the elastic.

42  Cookie Monster Outfit in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by jillybeans on: September 25, 2015 04:13:09 PM
My daughter, baby bean, had her 2nd birthday party last weekend.  It was Cookie Monster theme!  So, she needed an outfit for her party!

The shirt was made with a freezer paper stencil and fabric paint.  The skirt was a dilema.  I couldn't find any Cookie Monster or cookie fabric that wasn't super expensive or what I wanted.  So, I decided to go with blues for Cookie Monster and browns for the cookies.  The skirt was just a long panel with the different fabrics sewed together.  I serged the top and bottom edges, and folded over the top hem for the elastic and a smaller fold on the bottom for the hem.  I love how it turned out, and it was super fast and simple to make.

And here is baby bean at her party with my hubby and me.  I made shirts for us, too.  ^_^

So last week was baby bean's birthday (I can't believe she's 2 already!) and yesterday was her birthday party.  So, I had A LOT to do to get ready for it all.

Cookie mosnter cupcakes for the party

Cookie Monster shirts for all three of us, baby bean's skirt, and the cookie monster cutout behind us.

Here is a better picture of baby bean's outfit

A fabric banner for the food table

A Happy Birthday banner that I made with my cricut machine

A "toss the cookie" (lol!) game

Another cookie monster cutout for the front yard to direct them to the party.

And stuff not for baby bean and the party:

TMNT toddler shoes

Cement truck toddler shoes

Whew!  And I made her a doll, which I haven't taken pictures of yet, and I'm working on a quilt for her.  the top is done, I just need to do the back and stitching together.

48  "I Solemnly Swear" Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by jillybeans on: September 09, 2015 11:13:37 AM
I FINALLY finished a very timely cross stitch project.  I was originally making it for my partner elliot_anne in the One Awesome HP Thing swap but I quickly found that I was never going to finish it in time.  So, I sent her something else, and slowly but diligently worked on it.  It took me over a month to do and at the end for 2 days I spent majority of my time on it to just get it done!  Whew!  I sent it off to elliot_anne and she received it.  I bought the pattern for this cross stitch on etsy, and it can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/238068033/solemnly-swear-cross-stitch-pattern-i?ref=shop_home_active_17

My partner is a Ravenclaw, so I chose the appropriate colored pattern.  The Maker of the pattern has has all 4 color options available.

I worked so hard and I was so careful on this, and yet it still has its flaws and mistakes.  I tried my darndest to keep the fabric nice and clean and then when I was ironing it, the oils on it made the cloth turn brown, so I had to frame it tight to the writing and make a mat to hide my mistake.  I cut the mat out and covered it in fabric, which was actually easier than I thought it would be.  But still, ugh!  Though I'm still very proud of it despite its shortcomings.

49  Dolls & Matching Skirts for Toddlers in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by jillybeans on: September 09, 2015 10:55:27 AM
Hi there!  I've made up a couple dolls with matching skirts for a couple of my favorite toddlers.  The tutorial that I used is amazing and can be found here: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2013/02/girl-boy-fabric-dolls-pattern-pieces-included.html

This first doll I made for my cousin's daughter for her 2nd birthday which we celebrated in August.

Her face is painted on, since I am a better painted than an embroiderer.

I love how versatile her hair is.  She can wear it braided . . .

or in buns, or just left down.  ^_^

The skirt is removable.

And here is the matching toddler skirt to go with the doll.

This next doll was made for a mom friend who I met on a facebook mom group.  Her daughter is 3 days older than my girl. So, I made this for her birthday, which is coming up this week.

This one has a different color scheme and a ruffle instead of a collar.  She also has a few more little details than the first, like a bow on the skirt and buttons on the shoes.

This doll has eyebrows, I'm not sure if I like the doll with or without better.

Here is Baby Bean modeling her friend's skirt and dolly.  ^_^

Here's what I was up to last week.  My crafting week was short since we had an out of town trip for the weekend that we left for on Thursday.  I had a lot to get done in those few days before we left.

A doll for a friend's girl who is 3 days older than my girl who we were meeting for the first time that weekend.  Super exciting!  Here is baby bean modeling the matching skirt and doll for her friend.

3 Skirts for baby bean (plus 1 more of the purple for baby bean's friend)

Here is baby bean sporting one of her new skirts.

Blue's Clues painted toddler shoes for a facebook mommy friend.

A couple skirts for baby bean's friend.

The week before, I FINALLY finished a cross stitch that I meant to send as part of a swap, but it took WAAAY too long so I sent it later.

And a pair of painted toddler shoes in Giants/Eagles theme.
