21  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: KitchenAid cleaning questions (dishwasher safety) on: February 07, 2012 11:26:27 AM
It will change color over time if you put it in the dishwasher. It's generally found to not be nearly as attractive looking hence why they recommend you don't. Honestly, I wash every piece of mine by hand. For things that set up over night in the bowl (cause i'm lazy) I toss whatever mixing tool I was using in the bowl, fill the whole thing with super hot soapy water, let it sit for half an hour and clean it. The whisk really isn't that tough to clean. Specially with the method that MistressT mentioned.  My theory is, it's an important tool in my kitchen...just as important as my chef knife, I wouldn't put my knife in the dishwasher so why put my mixer pieces in it?
22  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Mead (honey wine) in three flavors on: February 07, 2012 11:21:43 AM
Props for this project.
I am a giant interest in home brew (beer, wine, mead,...distilling if I could find a good source to actually legally do it). Keep pondering making a small 1 gallon batch of basic mead but not sure if it's really my thing (never had mead) so the time investment seems iffy.

we seem to all be in about the same spot in our crafting quest. If I can motivate myself I'll have everything finished in a day it's just the matter of sending.

Luckily you gave us a good chunk of time. I'm going through a harsh lack of motivation thing right now.
No cooking, no crafting, hardly gaming...kinda just sleep a lot right now.
30  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: My Inexpensive Homemade Light Tent on: January 23, 2012 08:22:55 AM
Just finished my 2nd one yesterday. Mine uses a cardboard box as a frame with 3 faces cut from it and white paper in their place. These boxes really do make a great difference.
