2  "I have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards & broken things"-Tyrion in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mskatie on: August 26, 2011 07:04:41 AM
It's Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire!

i made him for my TV addicts swap partner and it was so hard giving him away.
tyrion is my first stuffie ever and i couldn't have chosen a cuter subject. i free handed everything but the body shape. for that i used the voodoo drop dead fred pattern from urban threads but made it a little less chubby handed. http://www.urbanthreads.com/product_details?product_id=545&category_id=7. it was hard embroidering without a hoop but i got the hang of it in time for the scroll work.  Tongue i couldn't quite match up the back of his clothes. so i just cut, glued and sewed as i went along the back with some grey felt. i think next time i make a stuffie, i'll sew the clothes and dress them instead of sewing the clothes on. oh and im used to making large headed amigurumis so i thought he wasn't going to be able to hold his head up so i wrapped some yarn to make a "neck bone" and now he is sure to always have his head held high. (lol) you can't see it in this pic but i kept his eyes true to the books with mismatched green and black Tongue his nose also looks like its "missing"

im glad you liked everything! i was sooo tempted to give tyrion a little crossbow Wink but then he wouldn't fit the TV theme. it was the hardest sacrifice Cry (but i kept in his mismatched eyes and it looks like his nose is "missing").

also did the cookies make it ok? i have never sent cookies by mail so i was worried they would crumble. and here's the recipie. they're easy peasy

1 box duncan hines triple chocolate brownie mix
1/2 cup all purpose flour(its better if you under-measure than over)
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup hershey's special dark chocolate pieces

set oven to 350F.

mix all ingredients except for the chocolate pieces. once its all wet add the pieces

drop mix from a wet tablespoon(keeps them from getting too spike-y) onto a cookie sheet that's been lightly greased

bake for 9-10 minutes (once cookies have lost their shine take them out of the oven)

cool on cookie sheet and eat yummmmm

4  Baby Centrosaurus Baby Shower Cake in Dessert by mskatie on: August 06, 2011 09:23:35 PM

my sister(boomerbile) and i were supposed to make it together but she had an out of state wedding to go to. she was nice enough to make the pieces for the dinosaur before she left Cheesy though. this is my new lemon cake(it has vanilla sugar in it yumm!) with buttercream frosting covered in fondant. i started making the cake as soon as i got home from work on friday and ended up working on it all night. it's not as polished as i would have liked but i always wish i had an extra hour for each cake. the leaves took foreverrrr lol i think i ended up redoing most of them and least three times. the purple "egg"plants were a little low on detail. Cry i couldn't get them to dry stiff on the plastic easter eggs so i just flattened them out. i think i am going to start experimenting with gum paste for the next cake. i am fond of the rocks though a little girl at the party asked if i washed the rocks before i put them on the cake   Grin

5  Baseball Themed Fondant Cake in Dessert by mskatie on: July 01, 2011 05:21:09 PM

Here's another cake from me and my sister. I wish I could have gotten a pic of all the balls when they were round. The kids started grabbing and mushing as soon as we set the cake down  Roll Eyes so now about the cake!
It's my white cake with classic buttercream frosting covered in fondant. The mini baseballs were supposed to be cake pops but me and my sister (SN:boomerbile) thought they looked better around the cake. They are the same white cake and buttercream. I think she did a great job sculpting the birthday boy out of fondant.

7  Japanese Garden koi pond nails in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by mskatie on: May 08, 2011 08:57:47 AM
Roll Eyes whooo first  craftster project been stalking the boards for years and i finally made and account so here goes Roll Eyes

sorry for the crappy cell pic but i lost the cord to my camera Tongue

these are my japanese garden koi pond nails

i used a striping brush for the tree limbs then painted the fish, lilly pads & blossoms with a dotting tool. then i mixed a drop of blue with some clear and painted that over the pond nail to make it look like the fish was under water.
