1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Building a wedding dress. Need help finding fabric! on: August 05, 2008 06:47:37 PM
Hey ladies (and guys?)
I'm getting married in Decemeber (yay!) but I'm having trouble finding fabric for my dress (boo!).
I won't divulge tooo much info about the actual dress, just in case Abraham some how finds this site (he insists it will be a surprise) but I'm looking for plain (unpatterned, and mostly untextured) chocolate brown fabrics, probably like velvets or shot silks. and fine tulle/ netting in the same colour.
Any ideas of places? I'm guessing I'll have to do a road trip to Auckland cause Whakatane fabric stores just ain't cutting it, and would appreciate any ideas of where to look, or suggestions of things to ask for!
thank youuuuuu. Cool
2  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / craftfetish.co.nz on: January 14, 2008 12:39:16 PM
There's a new forum and soon to be-market place site over at http://www.craftfetish.co.nz and I for one am super keen to make it my new 'local'. So far it's slowly but surely growing but I'd love it if some of you lovely ladies could join us, as it might liven things up a bit : ) Go have a look!

(oh, and I'm not associated with the site management or anything.. I promise this isn't a spammy advert.)
3  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Bay of plenty? I'm dreaming! on: November 16, 2006 11:43:01 AM
Hi everyone.
I'm about to move up to Whakatane, and was wondering if by any chance there was anyone who lived anywhere even remotely close to the bay of plenty? I know, I' pretty much dreaming, but it would be lovely to have visitors, or someone to visit as I fear it's going to be quite a lonely wee town as far as crafties go!
I will , hopefully, be doing the auckland and wellington craftwerks all next year so that'll be nice, but a litle craftie-friendly-ness in between would be wonderful. : )
4  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Finally! The all NZ, New Zealand themed swap! on: January 11, 2006 10:01:46 PM
Ok all you darling kiwis, lets do this.
I've sent messages to the seven of you who responded to my last post about this, and I'm going to post the guidelines here ( I will adjust/change them if they don't suit everyone).
1) You must live in New Zealand.
2) Your swap package must have something to do with new zealand!
3) Everything must be made NOT bought! ( Or at least altered from original bought condition!) Be original!

As it stands, sign up will end in one week on the 19th of January. And proposed final send out day will be the 1st of Feb. ( providing that suits..).
So.. send me a message, letting me know these things which your swap partner will or might need to know about you:

*Your real name and screen name:
*Your e-mail address:
*Your postal address:
*One thing you REALLY don't want to recieve:
*One thing that you're gagging to recieve:
*Anything you're allergic to:
*And clothing size, whether you have pierced ears, if you like rings etc etc. Anything info your swap buddy might be able to use to make something you actually like!

Alright kids... get to it!

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / NZ themed swap for new zealanders! on: August 13, 2005 01:33:12 AM
Hey kids.
According to the thread in the coutries section we could all do with a nice big swap.
So reply to this if you're all still keen, and i'll organise the whole thing!
I think we should have a nz themed one, like kiwi proud an' all that jazz.
let me know!
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / dead bears and poppies... ( slightly picture heavy) on: December 15, 2004 04:08:58 PM
hey all!
With the baby on the way all I seem to be able to think about at the moment is babies!
So suprise suprise I've been making baby clothes. Well, decorating them anyway.

I was just after some opinions of whether you think these would sell? They all have domes in the crotch and at the necks for easy putting on and changing and what-not : )
Thanks in advance! <3

8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / 1150 hits a month.. but why no sales? on: April 30, 2004 06:10:13 PM
okay. so i know there are threads about why sales slump and things... but usually the answers seem to be webdesign, promotion etc.
as far as i can see ( i might be blind to my own faults..) i have e-mailled tonnes of people and have been linked on probably 100 pages by now.. and i get e-mails telling me the site design is great..
can anyone, after looking at my site, tell me what it is that might stop people (you) from purchasing anything?
does being all the way in new zealand put you off?
any suggestions at all would be fantastic.
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / alternatives for cloth labels? on: April 29, 2004 08:46:58 PM
okay, so i know there are a few threads about cloth labels and cloth label vendors..
but i've been thinking for a little while about this, and i've decided i don't really want to invest in boring old labels.
i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas about putting my 'logo' or name on my products without the usual little labels or tags.
i'm looking for something unique and possible a little crazy, so i won't be copying anyones ideas. ha.
10  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Nz consignment site? on: April 03, 2004 03:36:51 PM
I'm really really interested in setting upa NZ based consignment site.
like www.cutxpaste.com.
but to do that I'd have to find other crafty people around new zealand... which i'm sure there are by the tonne! i just can't seem to find many of them with websites!
do you lovely ladies know of anyone who would be interesting in helping/ selling? or of good places to put the idea out?
<3 thank-you
