1  Re: OTBlackandWhite Movie Thing GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by calixita on: February 27, 2018 11:23:53 PM
Oh my lord, that Maltese Falcon is exquisite!!!  So awesome!

I found my package waiting at my door yesterday.  My partner chose the movie The Lady Eve with Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda.  She had never seen it before and hopefully she enjoyed it as much as I always have!

Here's my fabulous OTT!

It's a cute little travel bag on a lariat.  Notice the cards.  Stanwyck plays a con-woman/card shark who travels with her father on ocean liners, taking easy marks for their cash.

Inside, I found:

all of the little items relate to the movie, of course.  A picture of the ocean liner (it's a pin!), a tiny snake on a leaf (her name is Emma), an apple like the one Stanwyck drops on Fonda's head, a tiny bottle of Pike's Ale (Fonda's family owes the brewery.  "The Ale that won for Yale!"), a NYC subway token (Eve tries to take the subway to Connecticut!), and Hopsi is what Stanwyck calls Fonda's character.  Everything is so cute!
Plus, check out the card blupaison made!

It's a scene from the film and inside it reads, Mr. Pike demands his breakfast his swap package.  I love it!

If you've never seen this film, I highly recommend it!  It's charming and funny.  And all the little items will make sense!

Thank you for the amazing package, blupaison!!!!  I've been run off my feet with family stuff and too much traveling lately and this totally put a huge smile on my face!!!

I am horribly late getting my package in the mail and had a setback tonight forcing a redo on a part of my OTT.  I do apologize but I hope to get my OTT finished and in the mail by week's end!!!!!

Love the embroidered mug rug, and I might have to steal that Earl gray tea that GeekGirl posted.

Calixita, I'm so glad you liked all your swap goodies! And I'm SO RELIEVED that the slippers fit, since I didn't have a properly-sized foot in the house to use for pattern drawing. Phew!

EARL GREY LEMON BARS

enjoyed one at breakfast!  so delicious!

So I probably totally goofed in my rush to get the box in the mail, but those cookies are actually Chai-spiced shortbread cookies. I almost sent some lemon bars, but they would have been soup by the time they got there. Sorry if I mislabeled! I hope they're tasty anyway!

And if I had read the recipe through I probably would have realized these weren't lemon bars but I was too eager to try on my slippers, drink some tea, nibble on my treats, etc....  They are scrumptious and perfect with a cup of tea!!!  Thank you again for all my awesome goodies!!!!  Your package is finally in the mail and hopefully will get to you soon!

I received my fabulous package yesterday but haven't been able to get online until now.  Chameleon hound spoiled me rotten!!!!!!  And I haven't even finished my package yet!  Argh!  (feeling rather guilty now!)

Here are my quick photos:
SLIPPERS!

These are so amazing!!!  They fit perfectly and the lining is so soft and warm.  The soles are stiff so I can go outside to grab the mail without having to switch to shoes.  I love them so much!!

INFINITY SCARF!

This picture doesn't do it justice by a long shot!  It's so delicate, soft and such beautiful colors!!!  I won't mind the inevitable return of the cold if I get to feel lovely wearing this!

SO MUCH TEA!

Breakfast in Paris - which I had this morning with my croissant and fruit.  Yum!  (i'm planning a trip to Paris in May with friends to celebrate our birthdays!!!!!)
Night of the Iguana Chocolate Chai - this smells wonderful and I'm planning to have some this evening
homemade Chai Concentrate - oh my goodness!!!  so special!
special black teas brought back from China along with her favorite black tea.
but wait, she spoiled my still more with a delicious treat to enjoy along with the teas!

EARL GREY LEMON BARS

enjoyed one at breakfast!  so delicious!

RECIPE CARDS

not just for the bars and chai concentrate but also for hot chocolate and a winter squash soup!  Mmmmmmmm!

BOOK!

from my to-read list.  because what else do you need while sipping tea, nibbling treats in warm slippers but a nice book to read!

I am overwhelmed with the spoilage in this package!  Everything is so lovely and beautiful and yummy!  I feel so wonderfully warm!!  Thank you! Thank you!!  Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm heading downtown now to pick up an extra treat to add to my package because my partner deserves it.  I hope to get my package in the mail on Monday now

4  Re: HAPPY MAIL #3 - BRING the HAPPY GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by calixita on: November 08, 2017 08:53:28 PM
Prepare to have your breath taken away, my fellow swappers, because StudioANF outdid herself!

First, my package arrived wrapped in pretty bid wrapping with Happy Mail written everywhere!

I unwrapped a mysterious black box with interesting markings.   Grin

Opening the box, I found ephemera and stickers and awesome cat paw stickies!
 and unicorns!

And my envelope (or perhaps it's better called an accordion box!)

beautifully closed with a ribbon and seal

Opening slowly
(check out the fabulous arrows!)

StudioANF focused on my nature theme and these are some of the many goodies inside:
"made by hand" tags and spiral paper clips

beautiful flowers, mushrooms and ferns (are you aware that StudioANF is an artist in the truest sense of the word!  check out her Etsy page for more!)

beaded clips (bet I could use these as place markers for crochet projects too!) and butterfly, circle and heart confetti!

pretty feathers!

lovely butterflies!

sweet mushroom magnets and more wax seals!!!

somehow the picture of the Gryffindor cards didn't make it onto my computer.  I'll have to fix that!

I am absolutely blown away with this happy mail!!!!!!!!!!!  What an amazing package!!!!!!!  I am going to have so much fun with all these embellishments in my art journal, card making, etc...

Thank you so very, very, very much, StudioANF!!!!!!!!!!!  (did I mention how blown away I am?!)   Cheesy

6  beaded vintage Halloween cat necklace in Beads: Completed Projects by calixita on: November 03, 2017 08:22:07 PM
I made this for my partner in the 13 Days of Halloween swap.

It's based on this image.  https://halloween-fun.net/wp-content/uploads/halloween%20tag/Vintage%20Halloween%20Clipart%20Cat_11.jpg
I made my own pattern and worked it in two-drop peyote stitch.

I had a panic attack about two thirds thru as I was afraid if was beginning to resemble an offensive "black jigaboo" sort of image but one of my student worker suggested the addition of whiskers to fix the image as a cat.  Luckily that did the trick and I was happy with the result.

7  Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween tree in Halloween Decor and Parties by calixita on: October 23, 2017 01:03:58 AM
Made for my partner in the 13 Days of Halloween swap:

With a Pringles tube for a base, I used layers of brown tissue paper and a black pen to create the bark texture.  More cardboard and orange ink was used to create the door.  My attempt at a proper hinge failed and I was reduced to using duct tape but a magnet helps keep it closed.  Then I filled it with candy, of course.  A crocheted Zero helps add to the proper spooky atmosphere of the beloved Nightmare Before Christmas movie!  It was fun to make!

This spot has been staked!

My pile of goodies from Monkey_girl!!!!

My partner FINALLY received the package I sent!  I'm so relieved!  In celebration of my package not going AWOL, I opened 2 days at once!

DAY 1:
monkey_girl made me a beautiful pouch to assist me in my on-going quest to organize my mess!  I love the bats and colors!

Inside I found 2 wonderful and witty notebooks and a fabulous sticker!

DAY 2:
Then I opened 2 wonderful fabric baskets!  I immediately filled one with various tins (altoid and otherwise).  I'm reserving the second one for now to best allocate it's use.  Thank you, monkey_girl, so much for helping me organize my shelves.  It's a long overdue project of mine!  I love the fabrics chosen!  bats, sugar skulls and the purple and black colors are perfect!!!!!

DAY 3:
Today brought me a sweet drawstring bag.  Inside I found oozing brain gum (sounds delicious!), skull beads and a beautiful pin!!

close up of the pin!  witches and cats!

DAY 4:
I opened a great smelling candle and a cute bat bag filled with goodies!

The candle does indeed smell magical!

The goodies:  more adorable little notebooks (guess which on is going to work with me tomorrow!), ghost bags, a spacey tissue holder, tiny kitty pictures to craft with, and an awesome skull necklace!!!

some close ups:

DAY 5
Today I unwrapped a wonderful tote bag!  I promptly packed it up to take to work with me!  It has a sweet Trick or Treat Guild patch on it!

Inside were some  New Zealand chocolates!  They've got pictures of New Zealand birds on them and are filled with crunchies that pop in your mouth!

This one is a Moa, which I had to look up on the internet!  They're extinct now, alas.

DAY 6

I received a lovely Halloween collar!

Since I take horrible selfies, here's my cat modeling my new collar!

plus I haven't been sharing the wonderful cards that come with each present.  Here's a picture of them!

so cute!

DAY 7

Look at the lovely and elegant scarf I unwrapped today.  It makes me think of Poe!

I wore it to work today but since I stink at selfies, here's my cat modeling the scarf.

plus monkey_girl included at black leather bunny keychain!

very cool!!

DAY 8

Check out my new cool altered hand towels for this spooky time of year!

DAY 9

Today I opened a pretty lap quilt!  Its purple and covered with skulls!  Perfect for keeping warm on the couch while I craft away!

DAY 10

Ugh!  Computer issues kept me from posting for a while and I've been anxious to show off my goodies!

Just look at this beautiful handbound journal (made by monkey_girl's BF!) and equally awesome skull bracelet!!!

just look at how beautifully finished this journal is.

DAY 11

Today was for the kitty!!

adorable toys stuffed with catnip!  The ghost already looks dirty because the cat got to it before pictures could be taken.  Here's some action shots!
I think he's a happy cat!

DAY 12

It was so hard to get a good photo but here's my new fabulous mug!

It reads 'Keep calm and drink up' but when you fill it with a hot beverage, a zombie appears with the warning that the zombies are coming!  I love it!
I also found a fun magnet in my present!

DAY 13

so sad it's the last day!  but here to go out with a bang is a Halloween stocking!!!!!

details:

Perhaps the Pumpkin King will have left something in it by the time I get home from work tonight!

Thank you so so much, monkey_girl, for all the wonderful Halloween goodies and for being such a great partner!!!!  This swap is always so much fun!

Happy Halloween, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
