1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Needle and Wet Felted Necklace on: October 07, 2019 10:38:27 AM
necklace-Oct-2019 by Jeanne, on Flickr

Needle and wet felted necklace. Mostly an experiment with using some lovely Merino lace weight yarn and learning to wet felt around an armature (shaker ball). The sari silk ribbon ended up not being as strong as I would have liked so I will probably replace it.
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Embroidered brooch on: September 22, 2019 12:04:09 PM

Merino felted over a craft felt foundation. I did a brooch similar to this one using less Merino. It fully covered the craft felt, but wasn't dense enough to do controlled shallow embroidery (i.e. not needling through the craft felt interior).

This brooch was created with probably twice the thickness of merino. Both were wet felted and fulled in the same manner. The extra merino allowed for better control of the embroidery.
3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Slowly getting a studio space for myself on: August 31, 2019 04:31:07 AM
Having lost my life's work and all my tools and materials in that fire, I've been slowly trying to arrange a space for myself and purchase necessary tools and materials. I won't ever be able to replace what was lost, but moving forward is necessary.

Currently I'm honing wet felting skills. I had only done a little wet felting in relationship to classes I created for CAE. I'm doing more wet felting now for the sake of permanence of the pieces I make. Mostly I have been working on brooches. Their size being relatively small allows me to experiment and refine techniques more easily than with larger projects.

Here are some of my brooch experiments:

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Recovery - eco printed felted bracelets on: October 09, 2018 09:34:43 AM

I have been "missing in action". Last December my studio/office burnt to the ground and I lost 40 years of work; tools; stash; photos; computers etc. etc.

We only got water restored in August. My son's friends filled jugs with water every week so we could sort of function. We're working on re-arranging the house so that we have places to work. The dining room is going to become my new "studio".
I will be doing some mix media pieces. I salvaged bits and pieces from the fire debris with the intent of using them in something.

These bracelets were worked over wire that was salvaged from the debris. It was probably electrical wire: copper. For the first pieces I've been able to complete since the fire, I'm pleased.
5  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Air Fox One on: September 18, 2016 01:38:42 PM

Just a bit of fun. Actually made the fox ages ago. Was taking a break from wet felting (letting my fingers dry out and unwrinkle) so decided it was time to liberate the fox! =^..^=
6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Eco Printed Beaded Bracelet on: September 05, 2016 12:30:07 PM

Ended up eco printing this twice. I really like the embroidery and beads to finish it off!
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Tribal Necklace - Walking in Circles on: August 30, 2016 07:02:23 AM

Merino, some core fiber, copper, embroidery floss, beads

I have been so busy this summer editing classes, that I have had very little time to work on my own stuff. I have been doing some eco printing experiments when I have had a little time. Used a bit of free time to try to put those beads to some use. I certainly have not mastered eco printing, but it's fun and usually a bit of a surprise - reminds me of Raku - you can have a basic idea how something will turn out, but there are always surprises.
Eco printed some more beads yesterday. Probably won't open them until tomorrow. Hope there will be some good results!
8  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / eco printed pendant on: July 18, 2016 07:11:47 AM

I've been trying to fit in some more experiments between editing classes. Really liked this particular eco print. Took me a while to figure out how to use it. =^..^=
9  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Eco Printed Wool Bead on: July 10, 2016 07:43:47 AM

I've been experimenting with this for a week now. Have a lot more examples that I haven't photographed yet, but I really liked this one and took a photo this morning. Last night's batch also has some lovely greens. I only opened one to have a peek. I won't be able to examine and photograph those for another day or two! =^..^=
10  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wire and Fiber Brooch on: April 29, 2016 07:06:42 AM

Latest experiments from my craft table - working with wire and fiber to create brooches. =^..^=
