1  NecroNancy Digital Illustration in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amberlybites on: January 24, 2013 09:55:19 PM
Here's a little zombie housewife: NecroNancy. I digitally drew over the original sketch I scanned into my computer. Hope you like my warped sense of cuteness!

2  Doctor Who Valentine in Valentine's Day by amberlybites on: January 24, 2013 09:51:10 PM
I found this vintage valentine with bowties in my stash and immediately thought it would better suit a Doctor Who reference rather than the original Father themed. Hope all you approve!

3  Hope Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by amberlybites on: September 16, 2012 09:33:31 PM
Check out this cuteness I completed exclusively while waiting at my doctor's office for my prenatal appointments. I usually make hoops for gifts, but I'm actually keeping this one for myself- in my soon-to-be-arriving babe's nursery. I still have a month left of appointments, so now I need another portable project. Wink

What do you think o' panel of crafty experts? Cute, right?

Thanks for looking!

4  TARDIS love- coloring page! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amberlybites on: August 11, 2012 03:22:28 AM
For all my fellow Whovians out there! I made this as a coloring page. However, as many of you know a coloring page is just an embroidery pattern waiting to happen. Wink Check out my blog to download the uncolored-in version for your own crafty interpretations!

What do you think would the Doctor approve?

5  Super Domestic! (Female Comic Characters as Retro Housewives) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amberlybites on: August 11, 2012 02:07:23 AM
The inspiration for this quirky series is interesting...a mash up of two of my favorite loves: female comic book characters and retro housewives. I have these two finished thus far: the once ferrel Catwoman bored with 1960's suburban life. (Although, she amuses herself with thieving from her naive neighbors.) And a cake-wielding, apron clad Wonder Woman in a 1950's style kitchen. I will soon get started on my renditions of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn and will post them post haste!

P.S.These are hand drawn drawn and colored digitally, a method that I have not yet mastered but is extremely fun to play with!

C&C welcome!

6  Pawnee Breakfast Club! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amberlybites on: August 11, 2012 01:34:29 AM
A tribute to one of my most quotable, favorite shows: NBC's "Parks and Recreation." I made these little ditties with a mix of hand drawing and digital coloring. I hope other Parks & Rec enthusiasts appreciate these quirky quote posters as much as this girl does. Smiley  I also have free coloring sheet versions on my blog!

C&C welcome, welcome!

7  Superhero Support Team! Original artwork inspired by Comics in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amberlybites on: July 25, 2012 06:47:02 PM
Soooo, I've been watching ALOT of comic book movies lately with my boyfriend. And I was totally inspired to create this small series, Unsung Heroes, of quirky art. I hand drew/colored/painted everything with some digital enhancing once I scanned it into my computer. This was my very first attempt with this type of artwork, so I hope someone out there in craftland likes it too!

P.S. I have a free & fun coloring page version of "Batman's Janitor" on my blog as well as other original coloring pages.

C&C welcome!

8   transfer girls t-shirt in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by amberlybites on: May 23, 2012 09:56:48 AM
This was my first time using iron on transfer paper of any sort. Using the specialized (and pricy) paper I printed off the image i created on my ink jet printer. Then i colored it in with crayons and markers like it suggested on the package. Then i ironed it on. It was super easy and great idea for kids since you could in theory, forgo the printer and doodle directly on the paper. I also liked that the image didn't have to be reversed....b/c other techniques i looked into were slightly confusing to a newbie like myself. Smiley but i will definitely investigate as many printing techniques as possible. esp. ones that allow for multiple use screens. the wording on the t-shirt: "My daddy doesn't hear your propaganda." and it is intended for a 6 yr old girl with hip parents. hope you like it!

9  Funky Pendants in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by amberlybites on: May 23, 2012 09:38:58 AM
i recently made these for my BFF's sister. i definitely raided my stash using such things as cheapy hoop earring, wire, beads, hemp, denim, embroidery floss, and iron on transfer paper for the kaleidoscope image (which was made from a pic of Eddie Vedder whom she adores.) i love how eclectic they are.

and i had some laminated paper art i made months ago which i used as packaging....just to be fancy since i was mailing them.
