22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: sharpies on barbie shoes ? on: July 04, 2005 02:06:10 PM
You might want to look for something called a "paint pen" and not a sharpie. Sharpie permanent markers can rub off plastic if they are touched a lot. So like if you colored a bracelet with a sharpie, it would rub off the bracelet and onto your hand. Paint pens are paint in a marker container, so they are much better.
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Rhinestone iPod? on: July 04, 2005 02:04:27 PM
A glue gun would not work because it does not stick to plastic, and you can easily peel it off rhinestones. I am going to say this is kind of a bad idea though, because an ipod is very valuable (way more expensive than a cell phone faceplate) and if you want to sell it you might have big problems. If your ipod is too boring, check out the iskin covers, they are a cool way to make your ipod brighter. Or, you could make a cool case for it (there are tons in the crochet/knit/purses forums)

I made one, but jordy-style. It closes with velcro, and the metal rings are just for decoration.

25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Sculpey insanity (dissolves plastic!) on: July 04, 2005 08:29:27 AM
I went back to my sculpey supply because I was selling some of it on ebay, and I found that it had eaten away at my plastic storage drawers!! The clay had been sitting in these drawers undisturbed for about 2 years, and it has eaten holes in my storage drawers and turned them into a gooey mess. Here are some pics.

I am sticking my finger through a hole made by glow in the dark sculpey (it seems like this was the most corrosive):

Another pic of the hole in one drawer. The shiny areas around each piece of clay are melted-ish plastic, it's gooey like clear glue.

Some more melted areas around pieces of clay:

This is so weird! I guess you shouldn't store sculpey in plastic containers because of a chemical reaction?
26  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: duct tape mp3 player case (non iPod) on: June 26, 2005 11:08:43 PM
hah so cute! make sure you don't leave it in heat though cause the duct tape will melt and your mp3 player will get all gooey.

Try asking the clerk at the meat department if you can have some. Like the other poster, I've asked for huge pieces and they've given me a 10 foot roll.

My dad just bought something like this, made out of stiff fabric that is slightly raincoat-esque. Apparently they were featured on the news or something!

I will definitely be making one of these. Also, I saw a woman wearing a GUCCI fanny pack last week. THEY ARE BACK!
