3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / and if you don't love me, let me go on: July 15, 2011 09:50:09 AM

This is custom hand embroidery on lovely light weight fabric adorned with two birds and a tree branch. The embroidery hoop is approximately 7 3/4" wide and 6"tall. The bird that is flying away is saying a quote from The Decemberists, "and if you don't love me, let me go."

everytime i look at this piece, it makes me feel kinda sad... but then wonderful in a cathartic kind of way. i've had to say these words to someone before and then fly away like this little bird. it was one of the hardest and best things i've ever done.

Thanks for looking.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Watercolor mermaid painting adorned with embroidery on: July 15, 2011 08:27:02 AM

This is an original, one of a kind, watercolor painted and hand embroidered mermaid on canvas. The embroidery hoop measures approximately 14" in diameter and the outside hoop does not need to be attached to the piece to be displayed. This watercolor painting is accented with embroidery floss that sits off the canvas in a 3D fashion. It reacts beautifully in natural lighting.

Please let me know what you think! Thanks for looking!

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: lady in waiting # 2 on: February 11, 2011 10:34:16 AM
Yes, this is an original design. It's actually stitched on a medium weight black velvet/felt kind of material. I'm not exactly sure what the type of material is called. This one was interesting because I didn't have a sketched out design due to the texture of the material. I just started stitching and let the image come together on it's own.

Well this was embroidered on canvas, not plastic. Although I have sewn plastic before and it isn't very fun. You are better off melting plastic together. I just sketched the drawing on the scrap canvas and embroidered it.
