Thank you, and yes I was surprised at how simple the whole process was. Pretty enjoyable for a casual wee workshop :3

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Little Fish-Shaped Ex-Soysauce Containers on: December 08, 2012 07:47:32 AM
So I eat a lot of those little boxes of 'sushi' you get at Tesco (I know, I know, dreadfully over packaged Sad ).

Each box comes with its own little mini fish-shaped bottle of soy sauce, for those of your who aren't familiar, they look something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/haiku_girl/5693818779/ and come in two sizes: that one, and a slightly bigger one.

Being the massive hoarder that I am I've saved a few of them (and cleaned them out first, of course :p) thinking that there's bound to be something cool I can do with them, they're pretty cute, I think.
Of course now I just need an idea as to what to actually do with them.

I initially thought of maybe colouring them on the inside (PVA glue and paint, maybe some glitter type of thing) and stringing them up with some fairy lights, you know, with a bulb in each one (fish fairy lights! Cheesy) but sadly I think the neck of the fish is too small for that Sad

Any ideas, anybody? Or am I just hoarding a bunch of plastic trash for no good reason? :p

Love love love these! Every year since I was little we've always gotten a new bird ornament for our Christmas tree so I'll have to try some of your patterns soon, thanks so much for sharing and keep up the good work Cheesy

(First off, apologies if this is in the wrong board, couldn't think where else to put it so mods feel free to move)

So the craft society at my uni had a beeswax candle-making workshop and I had some fun making these pretties.

We had a woman come in and lead the workshop, talk us through each type of candle and all that. It was actually a pretty simple process of rolling and so on, but fairly fiddly to get each candle rolling straight and standing up properly (especially the taller ones). Anyhow, just thought I'd share with you the candles I made Wink

I picked some Christmassy colours for the medium sized ones

Here's a couple of cone-shaped ones and some 'practice' minis

Aaand a pair of big table candles.

Im happy with how most of the turned out and they all have that lovely beeswaxy smell to them; my hands stank of it afterwards, bonus! :p I guess the moral of this story is, give beeswax candles a try; they're pretty easy to make and smell super nice :3 Thanks for looking.
