The Swap Details:
- Homemade dishcloths are a fun and quick project that you can use to wash dishes, hang on a cabinet, or use as a woolly trivet. Because of the small size and minimal time investment, they are the perfect opportunity to try new techniques, patterns, and bold color combinations. The only limit is your creativity!

- This swap is for 2 handmade (knit or crochet) dishcloths. They should be a standard size cloth, at least 7" x 7" or as large as 9" x 9" (or even larger if you and your partner agree on this!)

- You may have up to 3 partners. Exception: First time swappers are allowed only one partner, to allow you to ease into and learn about the swap process.

- If you and your partner would like to swap more than 2 dishcloths that is okay, just make sure that you discuss with each partner any potential extras.

- If you are feeling especially generous and want to spoil your partner that's fine too, just remember that spoiling is not expected; therefore might not be equally reciprocated by your partner.

* Due to the nature of a dishcloth, only natural fibers should be used, particularly cotton. Some good brands are: Dishie by Knit Picks (hands down, my favorite), Sugar & Cream, Peaches & Cream, I Love This Cotton, Cotton-Ease, and CotLin. Some people use hemp, linen, or bamboo. Acrylic yarn should not be used to make dishcloths.*

Communication is essential to the swap process. Participants should post once before or shortly after sending in their questionnaire, and after that should post here in the discussion thread once a week while the swap is running. Posting on the thread is a great way to keep partners updated and get to know your fellow Craftsters better.

If you want to participate, PM the following questionnaire to organizer AugustBell with subject line "Dishcloth Swap".

12  Re: Harry Potter Small Flat Rate Box Swap Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by AugustBell on: February 23, 2016 01:13:34 PM
I received the most wondrous package from Mistress Jennie this weekend! She absolutely stuffed the box and spoiled me rotten. She asked what I might like and I told her that I'd like matching sets of earrings that I could wear together in my 2 lobe piercings, 1 cartilage piercing. She sent me multiple mix and match sets and I am BLOWN AWAY. She also made her first studs for this project  Kiss

So first up a group shot:

She sent me two deliciously scented bath bombs in beautiful packaging, an amazing Philosopher's Stone soap that also smells incredible, a set of interchangeable house pride earrings, Time Turner rearview mirror charm, two tiny bottles for crafting, an AWESOME card full of more amazing Hogwarts inspired earrings, a Dumbledore and Voldemort wand ornament, two darling wooden cut outs, some Japanese candies, and an unpictured Fox magnet that was slapped on my fridge immediately. I'll have to snap it later.

Here's a close up of my earrings!

Aren't they just stunning?! I'm beyond obsessed with this set. In fact I'm going to go get a third hole punched in my lobes this week so I can wear more together in the future.

Close up of my wand ornies and Time Turner:

Jennie, Thank you SO much for this incredibly wonderful and thoughtful package. I so, so appreciate the hard work that I know went into this. I will treasure these gifts for a very long time to come.

14  Dishcloth Swap! in New Swap Theme Ideas by AugustBell on: December 14, 2015 07:12:35 PM
Who's up for a handmade dishcloth swap after the New Year?!

UPDATE: The Swap is open for sign-ups HERE

If you've ever used a handmade knit or crochet dishcloth you know there's no better way to wash your dishes! They are fun and relatively quick to work up, easy to customize, perfect for using new or more complicated techniques, and cheap to ship (woohoo!).

So a couple of options for partnering I'm thinking about:
A) Each swapper can choose to have between 1-3 partners and craft for each partner (1 or 2 dishcloths depending on what everyone's preference is).
B) Group swapping - Each group can consist of 3 or 4 swappers and each person crafts 1 cloth for each of their partners. So, for example, a swapper in a group of 4 would craft a total of 3 cloths and receive 3.

If you're interested in a dishcloth swap, please let me know which partnering option appeals most to you, or let me know if you have no preference.

Project Name: Sushi stitch markers
Project Page Link (if available): https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=440318.0
Brief Description: The making of these sushi stitch markers was certainly a deliberate undertaking. To achieve the natural look of sliced sushi fish I rolled out two different colors of clay. I rolled them so that the coral color was about double the thickness of the white. My second step was to gently lay the white layer on top of the coral layer and then trim the edges until I had a nice square of double layer clay. Then I started slicing. Using a razor blade I made cuts of the clay that would then be turned on their sides and stuck together with other pieces to get the coral/white pattern of salmon nigiri. I repeated the process with the deep orange and coral for the shrimp. It was a fun technique to experiment with and a great way to make tiny nigiri pieces! Salmon nigiri is my favorite type of sushi, so I made many of them. Then I placed the jump rings in them to bake and applied the leverback earring pieces to complete the stitch markers. Fun Fun!

20  Sushi stitch markers in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by AugustBell on: August 11, 2015 07:56:33 AM
I made these tiny sushi stitch markers for my crochet projects. I have here shrimp nigiri and salmon nigiri (my favorite sushi!). It was pretty trying to get the pieces just right, but I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm still a clay newbie, so definitely lots of room for improvement!

I painted tiny faces on a couple of them just to try it out:

Thanks for looking! I definitely need a lot more clay practice, especially with such tiny creations!  Cheesy

**ETA - I can't get my pictures to display in the correct orientation no matter what I do!**  Cry
