21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / fo: cable and seed stitch jacket on: August 01, 2007 08:09:25 AM
i'm visiting my sister and family this week. my niece's  birthday was earlier this month, but since i knew i was going over there anyway, i decided to just hold on to her presents till i get there. i made her this jacket for the winter. it's a size too big, but she's still growing and they can always cuff the sleeves. it's a really pretty purple i think.

start: july 24th
end: august 1st
pattern: cable and seed stitch pattern from the baby knits book
needles: size 8
yarn: 2 skiens of caron simply soft in iris
mods: i did the whole thing in one piece up to the armholes. then i did a 3 needle bind off with the shoulders. i picked up the sleeve stitches and worked down, having to decrease to the wrists.

i used yarn bees sweet delight in baby red. and i also did a mod with the inc. i hate diong incs right next to the edge. so i knitted two, and did a twisted inc. did the same inc between the markers, knitted to 2 st before end and did a twisted inc there too.

i go them at hobby lobby. but they're not big enough. i had to take a needle and thread to the opening to make it tighter. i recommend those big crafting circles. i used them for my own rockefeller. you can see them on my blog. i made the buttons myself
