1  Halloween Painting -- Spirits in the Dark in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: September 28, 2019 03:36:43 PM
I typically paint cute things, but sometimes I just REALLY want to paint something else. I wasn't sure where to share this since it doesn't really fit with my typical art, but I figured you all would get it! Cheesy Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I have been in a spooky mood, so that's the vibe of this painting. What do you think? Should I share it on my art page? Ugh! I don't know why it makes me nervous! Lol. Titled "Spirits in the Dark are Waiting."

2  Not a morning owl in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: September 02, 2019 11:12:31 AM
I am definitely not a morning person, so this is sort of a self portrait. Lol.

3  Painting on wood in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: August 12, 2019 03:10:28 PM
I usually paint on stretched canvas, but I had a large cabinet door that I saved from our kitchen renovation that I decided I wanted to try painting on. After sanding it down, I painted using acrylics. It was a completely new experience! Wood reacts differently than canvas to paint. It soaks it up. It peeks through. This is what it looked like finished. I actually took the piece down to an art gallery that sells my art for a show and it sold pretty quickly, so I guess the experiment was a success! Cheesy

Anyone else paint on wood?

Haha! Thanks everyone! In case you were wondering, this is what the real Poe looks like. She is twenty years old and full of mischief. Cheesy

6  Poe Breaks the Moon in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: April 17, 2019 04:12:22 PM
Poe was not happy. She had been left alone for almost an entire hour. She could see a little bit of the bottom of her food dish, her water bowl was room temperature, not chilled the way she liked, and, worst of all, she was bored. So when she wandered outside and saw that someone had carelessly left the moon laying around, what happened next really wasn't her fault...

Title: "Poe Breaks the Moon"

 Cheesy

7  A painting with a story :) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: March 25, 2019 02:48:50 PM
I love to paint paintings that have a story to go along with them. Here is the story that I imagined when painting this one:

The little brown rabbit lived under the tall evergreen trees nestled in the Purple Mountains. He ran and played, jumped and danced, and frolicked happily by the water's edge, making everyone who met him smile and laugh at his joy. One day, as he sat under the tallest tree in the forest, he heard a marvelous sound. A mockingbird had landed on a nearby branch and sang such a beautiful song that the little brown rabbit felt as if his heart would burst. He wanted to sing along more than he had ever wanted anything in his entire life, and he felt the music build up inside him, but try as he might, he could not utter a single note. The poor little bunny cried out in despair and asked the mockingbird how he, too, could sing. The mockingbird replied that it would require a great adventure and told him how it could be done. That very afternoon, the little brown rabbit set sail in a little boat. His adventure had begun.

8  The Dragon and The Princess in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: January 31, 2019 01:57:12 PM
I just finished this painting. It has lots of metallic finishes in the scales on on the dragons face. I used acrylic paint and Pearl Ex pigment powder. Soooooo many layers and so much fun!
