1  Re: What Lies Beneath in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: September 29, 2017 07:25:43 AM
This is a really awesome piece. It has an odd sense of serenity, with the soft moonlight while still managing to be foreboding.
I also went and checked out your Etsy Smiley Didn't find this piece though, but it was enjoyable seeing your artwork. Smiley

Thank you! It doesn't really fit with my "happy" artwork that people buy for their nurseries etc., so I didn't list it in my shop. Honestly, I'm not sure what to do with it! I may have to create an alter ego to sell this sort of thing. Haha.

I think an alter Ego would be a fun idea to do; you could appeal to an older group. I liked your cute painting, but they're not really my style. Do you have any other paintings that you've done is this adult style?

Here's another one I did recently that also doesn't quite fit with my other art. I sold it already --
so I guess there must be a market for this kind of art!
Cheesy I guess I just need to figure out my alter ego.
 Cheesy

2  What Lies Beneath in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: September 27, 2017 01:16:05 PM
Continuing with the slightly darker vibe that seems to be sneaking into all my recent work, here is my latest painting. Does anyone else create art that reflects their mood, or is that just me?  Roll Eyes

3  The Usual Suspects in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: August 16, 2017 04:19:09 PM
One of the suspicious looking characters in this line up ate all the lettuce in the garden.

I usually paint woodland type animals, but I felt like doing something different this time (and llamas amuse me so much!)  Wink

Sometimes I like to paint something a little cute and a little creepy! Cheesy

5  A Snowy Night in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: January 03, 2017 11:38:49 AM
Even though I hate winter and I can't wait for it to be warm outside again, I can't stop painting snowy scenes! Haha! (I would totally be the bear in this painting Cheesy ).

6  Mixed Media Owl in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: July 13, 2016 07:53:23 AM
I was painting this background and ran out of acrylic paint, but I had the creative bug bad and I was dying to create SOMETHING...so I got out my oil pastels and pencils and made this owl. It actually worked out really well and it was so much fun! Once I was finished, I sealed it with some spray sealer so that it wouldn't smudge.

7  A very large commission :D in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: June 29, 2016 04:08:06 PM
Recently, I was commissioned by a children's hospital to create 10 paintings of various sizes. The theme was animals playing outside. Two of the canvases were so big (four feet x five feet!) that I had a hard time taking photos of them.  Cheesy

8  The Fox and the Firefly in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: April 20, 2016 04:23:24 PM
I have been so busy lately, I haven't had a lot of time for painting....but I just HAD to get this one finished! I was inspired by a nature photo I saw where the fox almost seemed like he was smiling. It's done with acrylic paint and acrylic inks on a 11x14 stretched canvas.

9  Faux Trophy Head Sculptures --Rabbit now finished too! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: December 22, 2015 04:45:11 PM
I am having so much fun making these, I just had to share! They are multi media sculptures made from paper mache, wood, paint, gesso, glaze and fabric. They aren't quite finished...I think I will add some painted details to the plaques and maybe nameplates at the bottom.

I just added a photo of the rabbit I just completed. I made him some spectacles and a tophat because he is quite the dapper fellow. Wink

10  Abstract and a "Whimsical Abstract" Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: October 28, 2015 02:15:06 PM
I normally paint storybook whimsical kids art, but sometimes I like to do other things too. Smiley

For an upcoming art show in November, I have been working on some abstracts to show alongside my other work. The last photo is what I have dubbed a "whimsical abstract" that combines the two styles.
