1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Messy Butterflies & Moths - A series of paintings on: August 21, 2014 09:02:49 AM
I think a few of these have made it onto my Craftster in the past, but its nice to have them all in one place!

These were all painted primarily with acrylics, and some have a bit of India Ink, watercolours and coloured pencils thrown in.

Luna Moth

Sunset Moth

Blue Morpho

Atlas Moth. This one was a volunteer piece for my University's publication journal.

Some recently discovered moth in the Leptometa genus

 Chrysopsyche mirifica

Swallowtail Butterfly

And a fantasy Valentine's Day-themed moth of sorts

2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Lion Muscle Anatomical Study - Sculpture on: August 21, 2014 08:55:26 AM

Sorry if seeing illustrated/sculpted musculature freaks you out - let me know if this needs to be tagged as mature!

Anywhoodle, latest sculpture!
I'm a total nerd, and my passion lies in the sciences, specifically biology. I actually teach in the labs at my university, Human Anatomy and Physiology course, so naturally my passion is fueled.

My favorite side  Cheesy

This was made with Sculpey over a wire armature, and painted with acrylics.

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Kitty Portraits - Soft Pastels on: June 26, 2014 08:37:17 AM
It goes without saying that I love cats.

They're adorable, quirky, and make no sense 99% of the time. There is no logic when there is a cat involved.  Cheesy

These are two pet portraits I whipped up with soft pastels on velour paper of two of our three felines.

This is Crush...

...and this is Fidget.

Cutest little boogers in the world, snuggly and goofy. Love them ~

I will most likely be redoing Crush's portrait in the near future, compared to Fidgets I'm not happy with the results.
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Lady the Kirin - Fantasy Sculpture on: June 26, 2014 08:33:37 AM
I just can't get enough of that clay! I'm still working on my skill level, there are a few things I struggle with but practice will help that!

This is Lady the Kirin, she's a quiet little pretty thing with iridescent scales and mane. And pretty blue eyes ~

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Fantasy Barn Owl Sculpture on: June 09, 2014 08:11:04 AM

Another little sculpture, this time of my favorite bird. Barn owls are lovely <3

Photos from the top really show her form.

She was made with Super Sculpey, Superflex sculpey and wire, and painted with acrylics.
6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Fantasy Markhor Sculpture on: May 31, 2014 08:14:56 AM

Yaaaay time to sculpt again!

Still looking for a name for this little guy, Markhors are so cool. Such long shaggy manes and magnificent horns!

Naturally I can't complete a sculpture without adding some sort of fantasy spin, so he got the treatment as well. At first I was going to go with red balloons holding the braids/twists up, but somehow the idea morphed into birds and butterflies.

He's about 5.5" tall, 5.5" long, and 4.5" wide, made with Sculpey clay over a wire armature.

Lovely bum view shows off the birds and butterflies nicely.

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Recent Soft Pastel Craze - Animals! on: April 26, 2014 05:54:20 PM
I'm back on my soft pastel phase. God how I love this medium! All of the pieces you see here have been done with a range of brands and all done on velour paper - the best thing ever. Its fuzzy!

"Sacred Kingfisher"

"Fuzzball" and the kingfisher are both 5"x7", little practice pieces, and "Perception" is 11"x14".

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Deity - The Sacred Elephant on: April 13, 2014 02:53:42 PM
My latest painting, one I'm particularly excited about! If all goes as planned, this is the first of a series of five. Smiley

Its painted with acrylics, and adorned with gold leaf on a wooden panel measuring 10"x20".

9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Saen - The Little Winged Otter Snake on: March 25, 2014 07:47:59 PM
Its about time I start sculpting again.

His name is Saen, and he's a little winged otter wormy. No back legs, yay!

He was sculpted with Super Sculpey and painted with acrylics. He's currently keeping my other sculptures company.

10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Starchild - Snow Leopard of the Skies on: March 25, 2014 07:42:37 PM
Hello folks!

So I've been on a bit of a tea-dyed paper run, I'm loving that stuff for art! I dye the paper myself, and then use it in various ways. Here is the latest piece!

"Starchild" was sketched in and detailed with ink, then washed with watercolours and amped up with soft pastels and some white ink for highlights. I'm loving the way the purple compliments the tea tones!
