111  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: F-f-f-feathers! Again! on: February 08, 2013 09:12:56 PM
Thank you everyone for the kind words! =D

I am also blown away. I am curious though, do you use like a glue to stiffen the feathers first or just paint on the feathers au natural?

I use a clear matte fixative spray before and after the painting. It helps to stiffen the feather up a bit, and just generally protects it.

Thank you everyone! I'm totally flattered that not, but two of my pieces were chosen for Best of 2012!
113  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / All Dressed Up - Howling Wolf and Moon Painted on Real Peacock Wing Feather on: January 12, 2013 08:01:04 PM

People seem to love the feathers, so here's another. Actually painted 4 today. Smiley

This was a custom, hence the name.

Painted on a real peacock wing feather, with acrylics!

These are GORGEOUS.

I just came back from a 3-week long vacay in Hawaii, wish I had seen this before I left! Love your colour combos, but even better, the pattern combos!
115  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Sister-in-law purse on: January 09, 2013 06:30:26 PM
That's awesome! I love the design and the uniqueness to it!

I have a HUGE stash of leather scraps and I'm struggling with ideas with what to make with it all. I've made quite a few purses and bags for myself and my family, but its all the smaller pieces that need to be used up. I'll have to try something like this!
You've just inspired me!
116  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Polymer Clay Christmas Ornaments: Nautical Steam Pirate, with BRIEF WRITTEN TUTE on: December 07, 2012 09:11:38 PM
Very interesting! Cheesy

I immediately thought of the Hydnellum peckii fungus upon seeing the thumbnail. Also known as the Bleeding Tooth Fungus. The redness of the inside makes it look remarkably like that fungus.

Holy crap. I wish I was able to do this style, looks so much fun and just so freaking appealing. Amazing job!

The brushstrokes make me happy. Smiley

I think my favorite is the poodle, because its unexpected. And everything is so painterly, yet the mouth is still so defined and stands out.
119  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Lady With The Birds - Surreal Ink and Watercolour Painting on: November 04, 2012 02:05:35 PM
Behold, the Lady With The Birds!

Just my latest painting, done with black India Ink, white ink and watercolours for the coloured portion.

Love your choice for the lining - I usually do the same with garments and purses. Pick the loudest, craziest, most interesting lining possible.

The coat turned out lovely, fits you perfectly.
