1  A Legend of Zelda Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by Wizards_Pupil on: June 25, 2019 09:08:58 AM

I've been attempting to replay all the Legend of Zelda games in the timeline order (the one in the Hyrule Historia) and it's gotten me in the mood for a Legend of Zelda swap. I'm thinking it can be from any and all games. Maybe a medium/large item and a small?

Anyone else interested in a Legend of Zelda swap?

The Lottery is a great taste of how well Jackson can write. The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived In The Castle are even better written than that story. She's a splendid author.

Craftster is currently experience errors on uploading pictures, but a mod helped me upload around it. This is what I received from Audiana1

A toad for 'Tuck Everlasting' with three straight pins, and a bookmark for 'The Princess Bride

She also sent three teas that I'm excited to try Smiley

Details of swap:

Who loves a good book? And who doesn't love sharing their favorite ones? In this swap, we will be swapping one of your favorite books that you think your partner will like based on the questionnaire. We'll also be swapping some crafty goodies based on the book(s) or genre(s) you send.

Your book can be thrifted or used, just make sure its in decent condition. Dont send a book that is in such a bad condition you wouldnt buy it yourself. One book is the minimum, but feel free to talk with your partner about sending more. (I will also try to match people up based on if they want to send more than one book or not.)

This will be a 4 POINT swap! The point scale is: Large=3, Medium=2, Small=1. If you make a large item, you need a small to go with it to reach the four points. If you make a medium, you need another medium, or two smalls to go with it.

THIS IS AN "ANY ART GOES" SWAP!! You can use any medium you like to craft for this swap. Painting/drawing, amigurumi/stuffies, quilts, embroidery, mixed media, ATC collage, jewelry design, Scrap booking, knit/crochet etc. Just make sure it fits your partner's taste.

Extras may be sent between partners but BOTH MUST AGREE TO THIS!! No one wants to feel bad for getting a boatload of extras but not sending any

- You must post in this thread at least once a week.
- You must post in this thread before you can join the swap.
- All announcements will be made here so please bookmark this page
- Please try to create a package that you are proud of and you think your partner will enjoy receiving do some research!
- Remember to take pictures, just in case your partner is unable to.
- Keep your receipts and tracking numbers
- Make sure you PM the organizer and your partner when you send and receive
- PM organizer with any other problems right away!

Sizes defined as follows:

Large item: 3 points (A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse; 3 or more hours of crafting time; $30 or more)
Medium item: 2 points (one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf; about 2 hours crafting time; between $10 - 30)
Small item: 1 point (Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks; less than 2 hours crafting time; less than $10)

Your crafted items MUST reflect either the book itself or something of the genre of the book. You can talk with your partner about sending extras, but one medium and two smalls is the minimum.

Please take pictures of your crafted items to post in the gallery. If not, please make arrangements with your partner.

I will try my best to match up people based on their likes and if they want to send more than one book. Please remember, though, that this is to try new books and there are other things to consider when pairing people up.

Make sure to send me the DC# and PM me (with Favorite Book Swap in the subject line) when you send and receive. If youre not in the USA, please get your countrys equivalent. Also, there is a media rate for sending books/movies/etc, but the post office might not accept this if there is something other than media in your package. Check with your post office though; they might let it pass.

So once again, the minimums: ONE book, ONE medium crafted item and TWO small crafted items. Have fun!

9  Favorite Book Swap Rd2 in New Swap Theme Ideas by Wizards_Pupil on: May 02, 2018 08:56:09 AM

So for this swap we pair readers that have similar or very different (depending on what they asked for) taste in books and have them swap a book they've read that their partner hasn't but they think they will enjoy, and crafts that go with the book (or books) being sent.

If you've been in this swap you can skip this explanation of it and go to the asterisks.

So lets say me and Mary want to swap. Mary loves Historical fiction and reads stuff that is modern and classic. I read all kinds of genre's so I pick three books to send to Mary that I think she'll like. I pick 'The Historian,' 'Lady's Maid,' and 'Northanger Abbey.' I would then craft an item for each book. For the Historian I would send a gothic necklace with subtle vampire themes. For Lady's Maid I would send a Victorian styled shawl. For Northanger Abbey I would send a decorated tea tin.

Does that make sense? I'm sending books I've read and liked, that fit into Mary's likes. I then create crafts for the books I've read and send them to her. She'll do the same for me.

There is no limit on the genre for this thing. Fiction, Sci Fi, YA, Romance, Historical, Fantasy, Non Fiction, Horror, Thriller, Mystery, etc. Etc. If you want to do it for your children, I think that would even be fine.

The book can be used or new. I don't think we'd have to set a limit on how many books you could send, so long as your partner agrees on the number.

I think a 4 point swap would be best, but I don't think we'd have to have a mandatory large or medium item for it. What are your thoughts on this?

I think it should also, like the previous round, be an 'any art goes' swap.

So, if that sounds fun how would you like the sign ups being from May 21 until June 1st with send-outs June 29th?

10  Music of the Night in Needlework: Completed Projects by Wizards_Pupil on: March 30, 2018 09:45:03 AM

In anticipation of the musical swap, I decided to make a hoop for on of my favorite musical songs. Music of the Night from the Phantom of the Opera. I saw a gorgeous sketch of music of the night and used it as a base for the design.

I tried to make it feel sketchy. I wanted to use my machine but ended up doing it by hand instead.
