1  Journal Cover - Bee for Subee in Completed Projects by fiddlegirl8 on: April 12, 2015 09:02:36 PM
I was just an angel for Subee in the recent Journal Cover swap -- I've been out of the swapping circuit for a couple of years - trying to make up for some bad feedback from back then -- I made this bee themed journal cover for Subee - one of her favorites is bees and it was such fun to create her this journal cover.  (I've used one of the pictures she used in her gallery post)

It was nice to check in on the Craftster community again.  And I really enjoyed being an angel for Subee.

2  Mickey and Minnie cupcakes. in Dessert by fiddlegirl8 on: October 19, 2013 07:45:38 PM
Started with this:

I made these Mickey and Minnie cupcakes for a friend today - Her birthday is not until December, but once I saw these on Facebook, I had to take a try at them.  I told her they were for her Un-Birthday.  Fun and easy!!  (I ran out of ribbon for the Minnies - so only four of them).  Cheesy

I used red foil cupcake liners.  Big hit with her friends on Facebook.

3  Re: Put a Bird On It! Swap - Send out Friday July 27th in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: August 01, 2012 07:34:27 PM
I received from my partner this afternoon - Craftsunderground can craft - that is for sure!

Look at this wonderfulness - two wrapped packages and a bird -

The bird is made from a felted sweater - the wings and his tail are from the ribbed parts of the sweater, his beak is leather - so cool - He's chubby and sits atop a vintage "log" box - Craftsunderground and I are both avid thrift store junkies!  She found the log box at one of those shops.  She made the bird so he can sit on top of the log, or hang by himself - I like him on the log - so so wonderful!  She nailed the "PUT A BIRD ON IT" part of this swap in more ways than one.

Next - these beautiful tile coasters she made - lovely colors, and beautiful bird prints-

Aren't they great?!!!  I love them and they will be used in my living room.

Next, a knitted bag - with owls - button eyes!  This bag is the perfect shade of grey.

This bag is lovely, Craftsunderground - you rocked this swap for me!  I love everything.  Thank you so much.  I truly appreciate these things you crafted for me.

4  Let's go to the beach! in Completed Projects by fiddlegirl8 on: July 26, 2012 04:15:39 PM
I was partnered with pjherbert for the Felt Badge Swap Rd 2.  I was super inspired by pjherbert's pinterest board - she has a lot of really beautiful felt creations there.  I picked my two favorites, and I think I made her happy.  It sure made me happy to craft them - Although the badges I made are similar to the originals, I had my own ideas on exactly the way the badges were executed.

Here is the first badge - my all time favorite - little beach huts - the image on the left is a photocopy of the one on her pinterest, and the one on the right is the one I crafted.  This one I really really wanted to keep.

The second badge is another from her pinterest - a little simpler, but I added some grass sprouts and tiny flower buttons - and the bird on the original (left image) is a pink button.  The bird on the badge I sent pjherbert is all felt (right image) - he's a little smaller than my pinkie fingernail - teeny - I love him - French knot for an eye.

And here they are together, with a quarter in the photo for size reference.  I am now officially addicted to making felt badges.

I'm sure there will be more rounds of this swap.  You should sign up!  It is so fun to see what all the swappers are coming up with!  The badges are not difficult to create - for me, it was lovely to sit and stitch by hand, totally relaxing - I really wanted to go to the ocean when I finished these - but I live in Kansas, and alas, the only sandy beaches here are manmade and adjoin lakes or ponds!

Happy Summer, pjherbert!!   Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

5  Re: IYP 21 Summer Soiree Gallery in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: July 17, 2012 06:17:38 PM
I received from my lovely partner, PerfectlyBohemian,on Monday evening - I had to work late, raging headache, and didn't get these pictures posted (of the wonderful package she sent me) until today - This may take a while - she sent me so many nice, and beautifully made things:

The package as it arrived, a box FULL:

Mushrooms!  A mushroom ballpoint pen-fun!  Mushroom pins - cute!  A lovely, detailed mushroom felt brooch - you cannot believe the stitches on this:

Next - a little gnome house (pincushion), all I can say is wow - she incorporated so many of my favorites on this - it is a felted sweater (I believe) with embroidery all over - four views - I tried to capture each "scene" on the little house - a sunflower, a gnome, poppies, a tree, a little round window, and a small woodbark door.  This is remarkable.  Such expert stitching.

Next, a felted pillow cover, that totally compliments another cushion cover PerfectlyBohemian made me in the Craft a Cushion Cover Swap Round 2 - this bird is beyond pretty - I just love looking at him perched on that branch.

AND, a Teesha Moore patches bag - all hand stitched - all perfectly put together for me -  This is where the picture overload really starts - each of the patches has embroidery accents and the stitching that frames each of the patch borders is just lovely.  I cannot get over it is mine - front and back pictures-

The strap detail - inside - I love this turquoise fabric - remember ALL HAND STITCHED!

The bag's lining - beautiful poppies - just right for me!

Some of the intricate, beautiful patches - again, patches with my favorite things:

And - this side panel of the bag is a favorite fabric of mine - PerfectlyBohemian didn't know that, so this shows you how well she keyed into my favorite things - I have about a yard of this fabric, and I just love that she incorporated it in this bag.  Jess, I can't thank you enough!

I used it today - I carried my lunch in it - tomorrow, it may house a handsewing project for me to take to the office and I will work on it during my lunch hour - I think it will be a good activity to relax me in the middle of the day!

Then, she sent me a bonus - a bird "nesting" ball - it's a grapevine like ball, with lots of wool roving and little pieces and bits, and I'll add more yarn or little pieces of fabric scraps and threads, and hang the ball outside for birds to use in making their nests.  I may have to wait until fall or next spring to use it outside - we're having a bad drought here and the poor birds are hardly seen or heard, except around the lakes and ponds and parks in the area - it's just too dry for them to live in the central part of the town I live in.  But I'll bet they will be back in the fall if we ever have rain again.

I'm late sending to her, but I think she "won" between the two of us sending the best package - now I have to leave Craftster and get her package items finished!

Thank you, Jess - you were a most fabulous partner to have!  I am one lucky gal!!

6  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, 2012 in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: July 17, 2012 05:27:30 PM
I was an angel to Foxy Sam in the first felt badge swap round.  I sent her a blue bird, similar to one I found on her Wist.  I have two more badges in the works for her, but haven't sent those two yet.  To "thank" me, she made me three felt badges.  She said it was kind of a personal swap - what a sweetie!  The badges she created are beautiful, and very tiny:

I love these - she is so talented - the stitches are tiny, tiny, tiny.  I put a U.S. quarter and a dime in the picture for size reference.  So perfect - these are three of my favorite felt badges - right off my Wist.

I need to get my other two badges to her.  I'm making my way out of a slump of sorts!

Thank you, Foxy Sam - you are an awesome felt badge maker!   Smiley

7  Re: Felt Badge Round 2 Gallery!! (Send Out July 9) in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: July 14, 2012 07:03:30 PM
On Thursday, I received from my ever-so-wonderful partner, pjherbert - I've been rather down in the dumps and not on Craftster this week - I'm also late sending to my partner (forgive me!!).

I received these two beautiful felt badges especially made for me -

A tiny cup of tea - in green, a favorite color of mine, so I think it is GREEN TEA, and a tiny giraffe - he is so itty-bitty - look at the tiny embroidery spots on him!

I love these two badges - just fabulous needlework and pretty pretty beads, pj!!  She also send me a fantastic note that made me smile, just what I needed right now.  Thank you for being my partner, pjherbert - you rock for sure!   Smiley

8  Re: Another dog toy in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by fiddlegirl8 on: July 06, 2012 08:20:43 PM
Not to take the limelight away from your doggie, bebedechocolate . . . but here are my pics of my new puppy-niece!  She is about nine weeks old - these were taken on July 4 with her new toy that Aunt Fiddlegirl8 made her (with a little help (muscle) from my son) -

She's just so cute -

There you go - my brother's new puppy with her new puppy toy - I have to make more - smaller versions!  I was pretty excited that she like this so much.  Thanks bebede for the inspiration!

9  Re: Novelty Fabric Fat Quarter Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: June 28, 2012 07:27:21 PM
TwistMySister spoiled me in this swap -
Fabric FQs - Cherries, Strawberries, and Shoes & Bags-

Then, two Day of the Dead FQs!  I love both of these and I had not seen these fabrics until now-

Extras - scary apple trees!  These look like the trees in the Wizard of Oz - a KANSAS movie - I love this fabric the best! - and a cute tissue holder from some more cherry fabric, tree earrings (I love trees!), and two cute little woodland charms - a frog and a lizard!

Here's another close up of that spooky tree fabric - these apple trees are pretty mean!  In the Wizard of Oz movie, the trees start throwing apples at the scarecrow and Dorothy!  I love this fabric!!

Thank you TwistMySister - I have now received from all my partners, and TMS is the only partner I have who has not received from me  Sad.  I hope those fabrics arrive to you soon.  Thanks for swapping with me, TMS!

Came home today after a long, long day at work, and a package from SewEnthusiastic greeted me!  WONDERFUL FABRICS, SewEnthuse!!!

Here are the package contents:

Look at the cute little "apple" cutout card she sent - the card and the teeny envelope are handmade from purple cardstock - I love it!!!

This is the fabric she picked especially for me - with a little skein of polka dot ribbon-

These apples looked so yummy, I had to take a break after photos to get a real one from the fridge!  I love the realism of these apples!

Next, the fat quarters she sent -
Dinos and hearts - love both of these!!

and fun fun pandas and scissors - love both of these too!!

Thanks for a fantastic package, SewEnthusiastic - I am thrilled with all of it!!
And, thanks for swapping with me!   Cool
