21  Re: Futurama Swap Round 3 in The Swap Gallery by ivoryh1632 on: March 12, 2012 11:52:59 PM
Ok found my camera, so without further ado, my awsome package from ErintheRed02

My very own degree in fungeneiring from Mars University

The mirror cling from Fry's dressing room when he's trying on the Lightspeed Breifs. Sorry for the bad picture, I forgot to take the pic before I put it on my mirror.

Makes me laugh every time I go in the bathroom, but I'm just waiting for my mom to see it and give me a lecture on self esteem  Roll Eyes

The amazing cross stitch from Fry and Bender's apartment. I've been wanting to stitch this up forever but never got around to it.

And two awsome crocheted headband/earwarmers

Action shot

And Zoidberg

Not gonna lie, I think this is how Zoidberg is going to be worn most of the time
Look at me! I'm Zoidberg! I'm getting my picture taken!

And as if that wasn't cool enough, they button closure on the back of them are golden slurm bottle caps!

Such a great idea, I love it!

Thank you soooooooo much Erin! I love everything!

Recieved a rediculously amazing package from haroldlovesmaude today. Lons of pics cuz of extras and all the awsomeness, so I put detail shot in thumbnails.

First up, a set of Fry yarn art portraits. Each on from a different parallell world, and their background color coresponds with which color box their world was in (thanks for pointing that out, otherwise I probably wouldnt have realized that for like a month). I am totally in awe at these, I think if I ever tried doing something like that I'd go crazy trying to keep all the yarn straight, especailly on something so big, each one is 8x10. I can't wait till I have time to go get frames for them so I can hang them up, but for now they're on a table propped against the wall so I can still see them.

and a close up of each one

It seems Zoidberg is trying to frame me for something becasue this was the next item I found in the box. Had to immediately change and put it on....and ignore my expression, apearantly my excited face is the same as my derranged lunatic face

She knitted me this awsome Bender bottle cozy. I didn't have any beer in the house so I had to try it out on a water bottle. But rest assured, Bender will be on his favorite beverage this weekend. I may even take it out to the bars since I live in the only town on earth where people bring their own beer koozies to the bar with them, yep people are just that classy here.

And for hot beverages I got this rad suicide booth mug. Absolutely love it! And I love that its in use too, there's always such long lines at those things.

A handbound captain's log. This is perfect cuz I've been wanting a nice little notebook to keep in my car (my gas gague doesn't work so I have to keep track of miles) and since I often refer to my car as if it were a spaceship a captain's log is just the thing it needed

And lastly 3 incredable heads in jars, and the heads belong to none other than my 3 favorite Doctors (from doctor who, for those of you who don't watch). These are so beautifully painted, and the dork I am I've been working out different story lines in my head for how the doctor could have possibly had his head chopped off in 3 different regenerations and have them sitting on a shelf next to each other without there being some sort of time paradox. I've already put them to use, on a shelf in my bathroom, Tennant's full of q-tips, Smith's full of hair ties, and Eccleson's full of cotton balls.

and close ups of each one

Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!

23  Classy Cannibal Reversable Apron in CHALLENGE 72 ENTRIES by ivoryh1632 on: March 06, 2012 12:30:31 AM
I've had this idea for a while and thought it kinda fit with the challenge theme so I figured what the hey.

One side of the apron says "I always cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food." Which is the more classy side, in my mind something a soccer mom would have hanging in her kitchen.

And the other side is a shopping list for bread, milk, eggs, butter, chianti, fava beans and liver. The only item not checked off is the liver. Its a refrence to Scilence of the Lambs, Hannibal Lecter wants to eat her liver with fava beans and a nice chianti, so he's already done his shopping he's just gotta find a liver.

The opposite forces here are the nice soccer mom vs a cannibal. Or there's the opposition of the soccer mom being the one that gets drunk all the time whereas Hannibal is a murderer but actually a rather classy man and would never use wine to get drunk, just to enhance the flavor of his meal.

I made the pattern by tracing an apron I already had. As much as I love making cute retro style aprons, these one peice butcher aprons (not sure if that's what this style is actually called, but that's what I call them) are so easy. I drew up the designs then copied it onto the fabric with carbon paper and painted it with acrylic paint mixed with textile medium. Then sewed the whole thing together, easy peasy.

Hope you like it. C&C always welcome.

24  Breaking Bad Gift Set in Completed Projects by ivoryh1632 on: February 25, 2012 09:15:45 PM
Couldn't figure out where to put this which usually means it goes here.

So my friend's birthday was last week and one of his favorite shows is Breaking Bad and since he just got me into the show, I decided to make him a Breaking Bad gift set for his birthday.

There's a shirt with his favorite quote on it, written in sky blue of course.

The Pollos Hermanos air freshner from Gus's car (stawberry scented, Gus seems like a strawberry kinda guy  Tongue ). I need to start making more air freshners, I forgot how easy and awsome they are.

And of course a bag of blue meth candy. My first time making hard candy, I'm quite proud of myself for not turning it into a burnt sugar mess. And it tastes like cotton candy too, since I've read that's what the prop on the show tastes like.

The only thing I whish I'd included was Tio's (Hector Salamanca) bell, but I didn't come up with the idea in time to order one online so he'll probably end up getting that for xmas.

26  Re: The Warehouse 13 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by ivoryh1632 on: February 04, 2012 09:23:32 PM
Yay recieved from ceemonster today. Picture quality's not the best, I waited too late to take pics and there was no light so I was fighting between using the flash and everything looking washed out or no flash and having shadows on everything.

When I opened the box, there was a letter from The Regents informing me that I have been sent some artifacts for safekeeping.

The artifacts all came to me in this special mini warehouse box

You can't tell cuz of the flash but there's a slight bit of metalic-ness to the paint on the box, its so gorgeous. There's a bunch of little compartments under the glass and a drawer on the bottm. I'm gonna have to find something cool to put in this, I'm thinking it may be fun to stash my jewelry making supplies in there with all the compartments and all plus with the glass I can see all my pretty beads whenever I walk by.

Inside the warehouse box there was......
A phoenix necklace

so pretty, my mom already tried to "borrow" this and kept going on about how it would look great with everything she owns.

Poe's diary and pen, safely secured together on a necklace so they don't get separated and start causing trouble. And inside is a picture of Poe. So creepy looking, I love it.

A pearl of wisdom bookmark, already replaced my current bookmark (a little ceasars receipt) with this one.

A mini farnsworth keychian (already in use)

not sure if you can see it in the pic, but the nobs are mini clockwork-ey peices, so awsome

And possibly the coolest thing ever.....my very own tessla!!!! an upgraded version. So amazing, I'm gonna have to find some way to mount this on the wall, maybe a shadow box or something, this needs to be on display.

But that's not all, I also got some tea for the office.

And a feild notebook

I also got a gift from Junior Agent Donovan, some purple hair peices. Which are perfect cuz I just dyed my hair blue so these are gonna look great with that. And they happen to be the exact same lenght as my hair.

The regents were also aproached by a strange man in a blue box who instructed them to include this, and then disapeared. They figured taht they better folow his instructions as he surely posseses an artifact (loved that bit)

Ok I think that's everything. Thank you sooooooooooooo much for such an awsome package!!!!!! I love everything. I'm already planning on wearing the purple hair and poe necklace when I go out tonight.

27  Beheaded Queens Coasters in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by ivoryh1632 on: January 15, 2012 11:01:07 PM
Made these coasters for a friend for Christmas. Each one has a portrait of a differend beheaded queen. It was inspired by his love of England and the fact that I was watching too much Addams Family (all of Wednesday's dolls are named after different beheaded queens) They're on stone tiles with felt backing. I didn't use a sealant over the pictures so they'll still absorb water, plus if the picture starts to gradually wear off over time it'll just add to the vintage look.

Ann Bolyn

Lady Jane Grey

Marie Anntoinette (my personal fave)

Mary Queen of Scotts

I don't know why some of them look like they have spots on them. Something got on them while they were drying on the table, whatever it was I washed it off, just forgot to take new pictures after. I really like how they turned out. I'm trying to think of other ideas to do for sets, maybe one with Da Vinci sketches.
Thanks for looking! C&C welcome.

This is a 5 point swap. One item must be medium or large.

Small Item = 1 point
Med Item = 2 Points
Large Item = 3 Points

For new swappers there might be a bit of a confusion as to what is a large, medium, and small item, so here's a handy guide:

Small = By time, 2 or less hours of crafting. By $$$, $10 or less. By size, Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

Medium = By time, 2 or more hours of crafting. By $$$, $10-$30. By size, one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf

Large = By time, 3 or more hours of crafting. By $$$, $30 or more. By size, A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse

This is not totally set in stone, but is a rough estimate of sizes described by time it takes to make package, by physical size and by cost.
If you and your partner want to discuss different requirements, let that be between the two of you. We just dont want disappointment if you send an awesome package and get the minimum from your partner (even though, obviously, everything sent is going to be out of this world..haha, get it, since they go to space)

Ugh, ya know, right after I dropped the package in the mail I said to myself "I should have ran to the store and got some bubble wrap" cuz I couldn't find anything to pad the package in my house. I'm surprized the runner up prizes broke though, I figured that since they're plastic they'd be good through anything. When I found those at the thrift store there was a ton of them (apearantly a trophy shop went out of buisness and donated all their left overs cuz there was a whole shelf full of trophy makings), so next time I'm over there if they still have some I'll get a couple more and send them to you.

Did the main trophy make it? or at least make it enough that it can be glued back together?

Here's a pic of what they were supposed to look like. I dont know if you can read it in the pic but the 2nd place pins say "runner up" and "semi finalist"

The cards I made by re-decorating some old christmas cards, because even though I'm awsome at oragami, I can't fold an envelope to save my life. So those are the original envelopes that came with them, and I dont remember where they came from, they've been in with the christmas stuff since forever.

The bag I did by scanning the cards into my computer and then printing them out and doing a gel medium transfer onto the fabric. Then after the fabric was all cleaned off after the transfer I took some textile medium and put that on top to seal the image in. The textile medium also gives the fabric a bit of stiffness and weight which is nice for bags, the outter and the lining are made from the same fabric to give you an idea of the difference in texture before and after. I didn't take pics when I was doing it, but if you want I can write up a tute on it because I'm definately going to be using that technique again, even with me trying to make it look worn out and imperfect it the pictures still had crazy detail so this is my new go to image transfer method.

Oh and I always see the rectangular tissue boxes at hobby lobby, don't know if you have hobby lobby in WA though cuz they're still working their way out to the west coast, that's acutally the only thing I'm not looking forward to about moving back to cali is no more hobby lobby. And the joann's by me doesn't have much of a wood section so that might be why I've never seen it there. Next time I go to a different joann's i'll remember to look in their wood section and see if I can find the square boxes.

Glad you liked everything, seriously so sorry it didn't make it all in one peice  Sad
