1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Louise Belcher for January's Hoopla on: January 22, 2017 06:35:03 PM

Finished up with Louise's hat a few days ago, I feel like this piece is kinda topical for yesterday's Women's March, you know the whole Belcher family would have been out there, loud and proud
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bob's Burgers/Leon The Professional mashup on: January 06, 2017 12:17:23 AM

I've been meaning to do a Mathilda portrait for a while and when I finally had time and energy to, I couldn't seem to get it to look right... Since I'd been binging on Bob's Burgers, I decided that a mashup might be what the piece needed...
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Stitchalongs / Re: Hoopla A-Long 2013-until the END OF TIME on: January 06, 2017 12:11:52 AM

It's been a while since I posted anything on Craftster, but I'm working on a little Louise Belcher piece, so I had to jump in for this theme

wow. I bow down to your crazy stitching skills - I've never even heard of a couple of these and I need to try them! Great idea and great execution
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Game of Thrones Hoop on: January 25, 2013 06:55:15 PM
I may be the only person on the planet who hasn't started watching this show, but this piece is really great!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Clowns are creepy (featuring more turkey stitch than I anticipated) on: January 25, 2013 12:25:51 AM
I kind of discovered turkey stitch by accident, I was trying to do a pompom and wanted it to have more texture than just a flat stitch. It and french knots take so much time and are so frustrating, but I love the way they look in the end.

I'm dying to see a Lionel Richie piece. Dying!
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: blackwork whale tail on: January 25, 2013 12:23:52 AM
this is amazing, I could stare at it all day!
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gremlins! on: January 25, 2013 12:22:13 AM
I did this piece a couple months ago, but it's been sitting in a hoop in my spare room since I finished it because I couldn't figure out how to frame it - I bought a couple different frames from Ikea and nothing worked - finally, I played musical frames with a few of my thrift store frames and decided that this one suited it best.

I had initially planned on doing this whole piece in black silk stitches, but then I had to do the 3-D glasses in color, then I didn't want that to be the only color in the piece, so I decided to do the popcorn in french knots. And the hash marks all around were kind of an afterthought - I was just going to do the gremlin, but I thought the piece needed a little more space and I was just doing single stitches, but I didn't really plan them out all the way (like so many things in my life), and they weren't as even as I would have wanted, so they became hash tags and I kind of like that because I think it gives it sort of a sketch quality.

Also, when I was a kid, I would have sold a kidney to own a gremlin, those things are so freaking cute!
