1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help! Can I add a drawstring to pants?? on: September 13, 2005 12:16:11 PM
Hi Smiley

I just found a great pair of pants from a thrift store today. The only problem is, I'd rather they had a drawstring in them.  Undecided

I've looked at the waistband and there seems to be room enough to insert one through what looks to be a double layer of fabric. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Any answers are great. Thanks!!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Skirt problems... please help! on: April 26, 2005 02:05:07 PM
First, thank you for clicking on this thread, even if you don't have any advice to share.

Okay. Here's the problem:
I went to the thrift store today (buck a bag all week.. woohoo!) and I found two skirts that I really liked the fabric of. The first one is really, really adorable, but the waist is WAY too small for me. It's a bit too long for my liking, but I can't cut the top off because of the zipper. Or can I? I don't know too much about zippers. Should I just put two strips of fabric into the sides? And if that's the best idea, does anyone know how to do that or a link I could go to that would tell me? I've never done it, so I need some starting advice.

The second skirt is WAY too big for me in all directions. What's the best way to make it smaller? It's in an A-line design, so should I just measure in, still keeping the A-line and waistband, and cut and sew from there? Or does anyone have any better ideas??

I know I probably sound completely stupid, but I'm a bit of a new sewer. Any help would be so appreciated.

I will forever call you sewing goddess if you can help me!  Grin
