Oh dear! The time passed so quickly.  I meant to have my Potions OWL done by now but other projects got in the way. I'm currently in the process of resizing some of the squares and connecting them together so I should have it done by the end of this week. In the meantime, here's a WIP photo of it with the squares lined in their rows.

OWL Proposal

OWL Subject & Option(if available): Potions Option 1
House: Slytherin
Project Name: January Temperature Afghan
Brief Description: This afghan will be representative of the daily temperatures throughout the month of January. It will be made of multiple granny squares. Each granny square will represent one day's temperature. Since I live in Illinois near Chicago, a spot where there temperatures during the winter do fluctuate at times, I figured this would be perfect to use for my potions OWL as each temperature range is designated by a different color. The ranges are in tens so for example on days where the temperature might be between 20 and 29 degrees Fahrenheit, I'll be using a royal blue yarn. As the squares won't be put together until the end of the month, I will have a total of 31 squares by then, one square a day. Though for evening out, I might only use the first 30 when I actually put it together. Or the color to represent the temperature for the 31st might be what I use to put the other squares together.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: House Unity
House Slytherin
Project Name: House Scarves
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: What an order this was, for scarves representing three of the four houses, only one not represented is Hufflepuff. The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw scarves were each made with Red Heart Team Spirit yarn which saved time in working them up due to not having to change between the colors myself as the changes happened naturally in the yarns. Granted because of that, the changes transition at different points which adds a certain charm. The Slytherin one, however, I did have to change between the colors myself, but rather than constantly snip the yarn and re-add it, I would just slip stitch it up til it was where I needed. Which is why at each color, the opposite is seen along the edge.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Slytherin House Pride
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Fingerless gloves
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Since I've been outside a lot this winter season and I already had a Slytherin colored ear warmer and scarf, I figured I'd complete it by making myself a pair of fingerless gloves. Worked them completely without a pattern and granted one is a little bigger than the other, but I'm proud of my first attempt at fingerless gloves anyway. I also switched the way the colors alternate on the two so really they complete each other's pattern. And also, I found out after I had already taken the photo and put them away that one of them was upside down but oh well.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Muggle Studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Trick or Treat/Doctor's bag
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Everyone knows that a bag is needed to carry all the treats from trick or treating on Halloween and my four year old little witch is no exception. But rather than buying her one or just giving her a regular plastic bag to use, I crocheted her one. Done up in the colors of her favorite cartoon doctor, Doc McStuffins; doctor for stuffed animals and toys (and coincidentally what she'll be for Halloween), it'll be perfect for carrying all the treats she's sure to get. And it'll double as a doctor's bag after the holiday for her doctor tools while she tends to her own stuffed animals and toys. On the side is a little pocket for her favorite plush lamb, Lambie, from the show itself.

Brief Description: I was given an infinity scarf in my house colors last year before the big snow. Knowing a cold winter is due again this year, I waved my wand and made up this little ear warmer to match my scarf

I've been wondering it too. Though I am curious to know if maybe they could be used as handles for doll purses.
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Sailor Moon Craftalong 2014 on: September 03, 2014 08:45:18 PM
Wow time flies. Anyway, next double prompt. Going to detour for the moment from going directly down the line of baddies to correlate a bit with Sailor Crystal.

While yes our first goodie theme was the inner sailors, this time we're going to focus on the two still left to be introduced in Sailor Moon Crystal. Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus. Take the time to really focus on the aspects of these two Sailors that you love the most and let your inspiration flow.

In the last episode of Crystal, the four kings introduced themselves to Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury. The four kings being Kunzite, Jadeite, Zoicite and Nephlite. Pick your favorite out of the four and have fun.

All projects related to these themes are due November 30th
