That is pretty darn cool. I really like the artistic quality of the second picture.

He actually let me take pictures! I have a great brother. I did have to go back and make it bigger, so he could fit all his hair under it. That was an interesting learning lesson.

Thank you all so much for the great ideas! I love this site. The scarf sounds awesome. Please post pics if you make it.

I did it! I actually followed a pattern, even with the yarn the pattern calls for!

It's for my brother for Christmas. But since he likes cameras about as much as a voodoo witch doctor, my glass headed goddess ($12 at the flea market!!) Estella is wearing it.

She looks bad with a towel stuffed up her face. Oh well, now I know.

when everything you see, you think "I could make that" and start making a pattern in your mind.

when you see things on runway shows and think "I could do better".

and now you don't have any clothes you like, because you can't buy any new ones. Because you could make them, but you can't find the time! yup, that's me.
68  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Has anyone tried this pattern? on: November 26, 2005 12:32:42 PM
Has anyone seen anything like this in a knit pattern? I really want to make the best friend a knit choker. I would love to do this one if anyone sees a knit version.

It has been so long since I made anything for myself. I realized I haven't really made any scarves I love. So, with the long weekend, I knit my arms off. And I love what came off those needles.

This is the Lion Brand homespun/moonlight mohair spiral scarf. Tip: If you have never worked with more than say 200+ stitches on a circ needle, things can fall off easily. If I made this again I would use longer needles than what the pattern calls for. Oh, and don't try this in the dark, you will drop stitches when you're not supposed to.

And this is my favorite new thing...
It's the ribbon drop stitch scarf from SnBN, but I tweeked it a little. It's with the beautiful Caron Pizazz ribbon yarn #005 Meadow.

The tweeked pattern:
CO 14
knit 2 rows
*k1, yo1, repeat from *
*k1, drop yo off needle, repeat from *
knit 2 rows
*k1, yo2, reapeat from * (just wrap the yarn around the needle twice)
*k1, drop yo2 off needle, repeat from *
knit 2 rows

continue in this pattern until it's as long as you like. End on garter stitch or it will be really hard to get the fringe in. Here's a close up of the stitch pattern:

That's my first time writing out a pattern. Does it make sense?

Everyone go knit your arms off!
