1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sock elephant! on: March 22, 2011 04:34:28 AM
I borrowed a book from our local library which has tutorials for making animals out of socks.  So I thought I would give one a go (of course I chose one of the 'advanced' animals for my first attempt.

Here is my little stripy sock elephant

I learnt a lot with this one:
a, don't use toddler socks - they are too small and fiddly
b, when in doubt, use more stuffing

Any C & C welcome
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Had some time yesterday, so made a little bag on: February 10, 2011 01:53:26 AM
Its not the best photo, but I had some time yesterday so I thought I would try my hand at making a bag with no pattern or tutorial to see how it went.

It has an external pocket but no internal pocket as I realised the bag was a bit smaller than I intended.  It would be a great little bag for one of my girls I think.  It measures 20cm high and about 15cm wide (8*6)

Any comments are welcome Smiley

(sorry for the awful photo)
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Easy peasy Handbag on: January 29, 2011 04:20:17 PM
My husband went out friday night and my girls went to bed easily and on time so I was looking at a whole evening by myself.  So I thought I would try to make a handbag in one night.

I found scraps of fabric that coordinated (I hope!) and started sewing.  Even with a few distractions on TV and my computer I was able to finish it off, and only the flower embellishment was done the next morning.  I'm pretty happy with how easy it was done in the end.

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Thanks KwiltyKate! on: January 25, 2011 11:01:22 PM
KwiltyKate very kindly taught me how to quilt last night.  She patiently explained each part of the process and then let me use her machines (!) to complete most of the quilt.  She did do the harder parts for me but I can say this is my first project, properly quilted.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A couple of purses on: January 21, 2011 12:52:00 AM
I tried my hand at using the clear plastic to make a couple of purses for myself and my daughter.  The plastic was a bit harder than I was expecting, I don't have a walking foot yet, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My first attempt on: January 20, 2011 11:55:46 PM
I thought after taking up sewing 2 years ago and trying my hand at all sorts of things I would try to quilt.  I used the scraps of my favorite fabrics and might need to be a bit more careful of my measurements next time  Undecided

It is a coffee plunger warmer and it is only missing the buttons in the photo.

7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Another Aussie Newbie on: January 07, 2011 03:28:17 AM
I've just been told about this site by a friend of mine, so I thought I would join and have a wander around.  WOW - I love this place  Cheesy
A bit of background about me: I am a married mum of two beautiful girls and work as a high school science teacher.  In my spare time I hide in my sewing room trying to work out how to do things with my sewing machine and undoing the mistakes I make.
I show off my achievements in my blog as well as randomly ramble in there as well.
So thats about it I guess, now I just have to work out the rest of the site
