121  Re: Ongoing tarot card swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: August 15, 2011 03:59:40 PM
I got the most gorgeous card today from Oyhana!  I'm really happy she chose to make a surprise card; I got to learn about the King of Cups and the meaning is beautiful.    Smiley  Thank you so much!!

I am so amazed and blessed with Kelli's artwork and inspiration... She happened to pick my patron goddess, Ma'at, and send that to me as the very first Tarot card I have received - divine!

The artwork and detailing just take my breath away... Thank you so much, Kelli, a.k.a. curiousfae!!

123  Re: Quick Plush Monster Swap GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: August 07, 2011 05:15:14 PM
And I just got the pictures from my honey back home.  My monster is even cuter now that I can see him a bit clearer (versus video chat)!   Here is my awesome autumn dryad from tattooedcrafter!

124  Re: Craft my favorite quote swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: July 11, 2011 05:50:41 PM
I just returned from TX over the weekend and was so excited to get my awesome package from Sarabunny.  My very favorite item (bird in the nest) is hanging out in the bookshelf behind me right now, and the awesome sun pick is hanging out with my chives in a pot on the back porch at this very moment.  Sadly, only one of the pots survived the trip intact - "you lean on me" - it seems appropriate given the health issues my family is undergoing right now; it will be a lasting reminder of being there for them.

125  Re: M&M Minis Tube Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: May 17, 2011 07:01:36 PM
I got my tubes this weekend and I feel A) like the luckiest girl in the world and B) like such a sorry crafter!!!  I learned a lot from this swap... I'm going to need to send another tube Belladune's way to try to make up for the inadequacy of my first tube... The one I sent her had no ephemera, no real artistry on the tube...  I now see what being a true crafter is all about!  That's one of the reasons I joined craftster not too long ago, to reawaken my crafty self and learn to create!  Prepare for amazingness overload...

Here are the pics of the two mini tubes Belladune sent me.  I am so amazed at the artistry.

Tube 1 - My favorite... I love her "hairdo"!

Contents of tube 1 (look at the handmade beads on the bracelet, and the teeny teapot!!!):

Tube 2 - Even the lid is amazing!

Contents of tube 2 (I love the teeny mushroom bead):

Tone on tone - my initial - look at the detail!!!

I am SO lucky to have gotten such a great partner for my first swap.  Kara - you are a rock star, you made my week!!  Thank you so much.

126  Origami mobile - chakra colors using cranes in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by cabaute on: January 08, 2011 08:23:02 AM
I decided to do an origami mobile - I've been seeing a lot of these around lately.  I made the basic crane shape in the 7 colors of the chakras and then strung them up on a string, as seen here:

127  Another T-shirt design using wax paper to make the cutout in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by cabaute on: January 08, 2011 08:20:14 AM
Here's another T-shirt I did using wax paper to make the cutout.  If you are a Dave Matthews fan, you may recognize the Fire Dancer:

128  Portrait using Freezer Paper in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by cabaute on: January 06, 2011 07:40:13 PM
I'll be honest, I did this craft a while ago, and can't find the link to the original tutorial I was following!  The basic steps are like the ones shown here http://www.marthastewart.com/article/no-sew-fabric-pet-portrait for the fabric portrait, except that instead of doing the layers in fabric, you would do them with fabric paint.

I decided to do a picture of one of my favorite musicians, Dave Matthews.

Note that I had to host the images on my blog site, since I'm a new member.  Sorry about that!

Here is a link to the original picture, which I converted to black and white and copied on tracing paper:

Here is a link to step 1, after I'd cut out just the "highlight" ("lowlight"?) portion of the image:

Here is a link to step 2, after I'd laid down and filled in the 2nd cutout:

Here is a link to step 3, once I'd done all three layers:

It wasn't quite perfect, but I thought it was pretty good for a 1st attempt!
