11  Re: HAPPY MAIL #3 - BRING the HAPPY GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: November 06, 2017 07:18:26 PM
Oh wow, I somehow missed the gallery until I was coming over to add my amazing package received from tapestrymlp... And to be honest I'm sort of glad.  I always have super terrible swap anxiety, this time was just as bad as ever, particularly when it is so open ended and I'm not exactly certain what I'm supposed to be sending.  In the end I sort of ran out of time and just packaged up everything that was done.  Now I'm wishing I had been able to fit a bit more in.   Undecided  This package was so extensive, beautifully personalized, and artistic... Just - wow.

Drumroll, please... Check out the amazing package I received today...
Adorable envelope:

The whole set:

An ADORABLE Wire Fox Terrier portrait (I have a Wire Fox Terrier, so this is so perfect!!)

Beautiful prayer flag - I love the colors, the layering, the careful, beautiful hand stitching, and use of materials!!

The cutest hand-drawn stickers!

A delicate butterfly canvas:

The cutest card:

A bit of sparkly yarn:

And SOOO MUCH ephemera!  Stickers, details, slick portraits...  Wow.

Tapestrymlp... I'm honestly overwhelmed.  Thank you so much!!!

Been so heads down for the happy mail swap I kept forgetting to take pics of my adorable inchie house!

May I present my lovely moon house from Aluraceleste!

I really adore the little moon detail on the roof, and the moon charm on the side Smiley

Thank you so much, Aluraceleste!

13  Re: Sweat Shoppe ORNAMENT Swap Round 8 (finished crafting 11/17, send by 11/20) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by cabaute on: October 26, 2017 12:52:38 PM
It looks good to me... so, this being my first sweat shoppe swap.. what do I do now?

:)We wait now in case there are any errors, then GatorWrangler will give the final approval to the list. When the list is finalized you may contact the people you are sending an ornament to for their address. Then once you have finished crafting contact GatorWrangler are she will make you name green on the front page. Once your name is green you are allowed to start sending to other people that have finished crafting and are green.

Ah!  So mine are done but my name is not green yet, so just putting that down to be sure it is clear for when we get ready to start.  I wasn't sure whether it was important or not.  I guess also if people prefer a specific color I might need to make more?  But I'd planned on randomly sending the ones that are done unless someone has a strong preference.  Is it OK if I send each person an extra ornament?  I made a bunch of snowflakes that need homes.  Don't want to get pulled over by swap police though!   Grin

(Those darker parts are silvery sparkles, FWIW).

14  Re: OTT October Holidays 2017 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: October 24, 2017 04:38:08 PM
Check out my most magnificent OTT from alwaysinmyroom.  Prepare to be jealous  Grin

An adorable vintage black cat round box.  Look at the tiny details on his face - tiny outlining in and around the eyes, tiny teeth, a lil tongue...  Perfect!!

I love the super soft little orange pompoms, and around the edge are so many details.  In fact, every layer has rich details - felt on top and bottom, 3 kinds of trim around the sides, painted shiny detail stripes all the way around...  LOVE.

And on the inside it is finished out with the cutest spooky printed paper.  Love the little owls, bats and witches hats!!

Thank you so much, alwaysinmyroom, this is a magnificent!! It is perfect in every way.  Decorative AND useful, the very very best kind of thing.

16  Little Halloween Diorama for OTT swap to Alwaysinmyroom in Halloween Decor and Parties by cabaute on: October 23, 2017 07:39:32 PM
I made a little thing for the OTT swap.  Well technically it is a bunch of little things, but all combined are under 4x4" so I consider it one thing.   Grin
Finished diorama with little twinkle lights in the top.  I got a set of 6 of these lights to make some Mickey ears for a trip to Disney, which got cancelled due to Irma, so I had some left over...

The box was from a box of Happy Socks, cut out the middle and taped the two ends together - painted and covered in pieces of chipboard (? I think that's what it's called?)

The kitty and pumpkin in process - paper clay.  I swapped the eyes out because I realized I needed the kind with the vertical pupils.

Sometimes I make myself laugh.  The bottom of the cat... which was subsequently glued in, so this will never be seen.   Grin

The back of the diorama with the little switch.

Other notes - the thimble I just used a couple of pieces of some Tim Holtz paper tape to cover, and broke the head off one of my dollar store skellies...  the moon is paper clay done in a mold I have, covered with a bit of foil from the outer part of a candy wrapper.  The background is just cardstock run through with an embossing folder and dry brushed.

Ah!  I don't know that I took very many pictures along the way, oops!  I get so heads-down in my idea that I sort of forget about documenting the process.

For the box, I'd been hoarding a box I'd gotten with a set of happy socks (like this):

And it was perfect for what I had in mind, so I cut out the middle bit, taped the two ends together to get the correct size, and then painted and attached cardboard paper stock on the inside and outside, along with a few decorations I cut out using punches and my Sizzix machine.

It was received last Wednesday so I guess it is ok if I post pics.  Here is the needle punched mug rug I sent to kbrison.  She had pinned the exact dragon fabric I had in my stash.
