Hi all, I'm Phoenix. I took part in the HPC way back in 2013/2014, and I've decided to jump back into it this semester as a way to showcase some recent crafting and inspire me to do more crafting as we begin the new year.

Classes & Challenges Submissions
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Astronomy
SPEW: N/A
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Circles and Crow
Project Page Link (if available): N/A presently
Brief Description: I made this as a holiday present for a close friend. I began with a small coloring page designed with the six-petaled flowers in an interlocking circle pattern. I colored this in three shades of red/violet-red. This was glued to green cardstock and then to black felt with the sides cut in the zig-zag pattern. I then decided to add the crow and word bubble, and I  attached these via adhesive foam squares to create some depth.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Care of Magical Creatures
SPEW: N/A
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Octopus Canvas Painting
Project Page Link (if available): N/A presently
Brief Description: I made this as a holiday present. I used pencil & then marker to trace the octopus shape from a template I found online. I then painted the octopus and the water background with many layers of acrylic paint. I used a lighter shade of orange for the suckers and the eyes. I hummed with contentment after successfully using glow in the dark orange paint to outline the octopus and as an additional layer for the suckers & eyes. The octopus is almost completely spherical, or at least their head definitely is.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Floo Powder Challenge - Ghana
SPEW: N/A
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Heart Mixed Media Canvas
Project Page Link (if available): N/A presently
Brief Description: I made this as a holiday present for my girlfriend. It is a 3x3” canvas painted bright pink. The hearts in each corner were punched from scrapbook paper. The large heart was a plain wood piece which I colored with red marker and then outlined with a gold paint pen.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Frog Choir
SPEW: N/A
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Axolotl Mixed Media Piece
Project Page Link (if available): N/A presently
Brief Description: I made this as a holiday present for a close friend. I tried to harmoniously bring together the recipient’s favorite colors: blue and orange; animal: axolotl; and pattern: stripes. I think I did fairly well by combining the patterned blue & orange background paper, the water scrapbook paper, an axolotl coloring page image, and a wooden spiral I added a striped pattern to.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Muggle Studies
SPEW: N/A
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Snowflake Thank You Cards
Project Page Link (if available): N/A presently
Brief Description: These are simple thank you cards made from blank postcards, scrapbook paper for the snowflakes, and a silver sharpie for the card borders. These cards are to thank several of my preschoolers & their families (I'm an assistant teacher) who gifted me various holiday presents and edible treats. Alas, I could find neither an owl nor a “Postie Man” to deliver these cards. So I shall have to place them in my students’ cubbies when we return from winter break.

2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Book of Shadows Swap Round 3 on: May 21, 2013 01:43:03 PM
Hi all,

So I've been looking at the various WWP and related swaps for a while now, and am happy to finally be old enough to join one of them. I wish i had seen this BOS one earlier

My question is would someone who is more of a pantheist bent be welcome in one of these swaps? I guess if I needed to make a title a Unitarian Universalist pagan pantheist would be something close.

A second question is when would the next one of these awesome swaps likely be?

So I'm no master crafter like most of you all are, but this swap is so tempting. No idea who I would be partners with though, I can make mostly papercraft like things and dabble some in painting, and have even made a few wands and such. Mmm, shall definately be doing OTHPT 2 in may.

This is far too unbelievably tempting. Whether I dare try and add this into my life this 9wks I'm not sure of yet. I have no idea who I could be partners with, especially since most of you all are masters in your skillsets. I really love receiving all sorts of handmade things (...an may or may not have a collection of HP and HP/Trefoil camp stuff on by bookshelf), but in terms of making things I mainly dabble in papercrafts and paintings with some jewelry thrown in here and there. OTHPT4 shall certainly be a must though.
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: HP Craftalong ~Winter Semester 2012~ *Join At Any Time* on: December 01, 2012 04:57:53 PM
Wow, it's hard to believe it's winter already. It was sad to find that real life things have kept me away from the Fall HPC as well as the last HP swap (ornament I believe), but with holiday gifts and winter camp (I work at a HP inspired camp) projects to be completed perhaps I can finish a few assignments and such for this semester's HPC. The summer one was a lot of fun and expect this one to be to.

Oh dear Pinkleo, why must you tempt us crafters with no free time with such awesome sounding swaps, xD. Back to Hogwarts was simply awesome...shall think on this especially considering it's so small compared to the last HP swap.

Okay, so I haven't had a chance to look a ton at everything, but I've seen a number of things. I'll comment more later, but basically everything is awesome.

Anyways, Solitary Cricket received her package (according to the delivery confirmation slip) a few days or so ago, so I figured I'd post some pictures of what I made her.

First I made her a set of Runeology class supplies, including a textbook (which is actually a book-box), a decorated notebook, some pencils, and some cardstock.

Second I made her a wand for her favorite shop, Ollivanders.

Lastly I made her a bookmark for Ravenclaw, her house.

And for extras; a little painting on canvas with her name in Runes and a fish and a flower representing one of her favorite movie scenes. Also, a little spider/halloween pin.

Sorry for the pic-heaviness of the post. But I had a ton of fun crafting for you Solitary Cricket and I really hope you liked everything I made.

Okay, so I've been lame at posting in this thread, but anyways, I received from Solitary Cricket a day or so ago, and the package she sent was positively amazing. It included: a ravenclaw charm bracelet and earrings (which are apparently chainmaille according to my friend, making them doubly epic.); three adorable crocheted amigurumi owls (which still need names, Tongue); an awesome crocheted Monster Book of Monsters journal cover and an extra notebook; and an awesome little wand which I think is made from wood and polymer clay. I literally squeeed when I opened the package.

Anyways, pictures:

The Package, all nice and wrapped in parchment

The Whole Package Together, all the wonderful items. Shall post more detailed pictures when I get the chance, but needless to say I love everything and Solitary Cricket did a wonderful job.

Also, everything else in this gallery so far is all amazing and epic and awesome and all of the above times a thousand. Smiley

I received today, and let me say, Solitary Cricket, your package is positively AMAZING! I love it sooooo much!. Picutres shall be posted tommorow if not sooner. And, I'm sorry for the late sending, life kinda's intervened in some things lately.

Checking in, sorry if it's been a while. Large almost done, and medium and small to be done this weekend. Real life has been a big pain and giving me no free time, so yah. Is hoping everything's okay with my swapping partner, she seems to have kinda disapeared.
