1  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- October 2018 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Mountains and Clouds on: December 04, 2018 06:03:18 PM
Oh my! I somehow lost track of all time and wits changing jobs/schools during this frantic start to the holiday season....

I'm going to re-post this one that Blupaisan already posted, because I think it is ridonculously hilarious!   I think a blob fish needs to be added to every photo/drawing (and perhaps my list of themes)....

Thank you, Blu!!

And then from irid3sc3nt, this beautiful little colorful bird!

Thank you, irid3scent, I love it!

And, from MadCrafter, I received these two beautiful papercut cards:

I love the colors, and the design for both. Thank you, Madcrafter!

I received two awesome cards for my "I dream of jellyfish" theme this weekend!

ChameleonHound sent me this card, inspired by a folk music festival where one of her favorite bands frequently plays... they have a following of people who like to make jellyfish puppets using umbrellas, string lights, and all sorts of glittery decorations to bring to the night time performances! It sounds amazing!!

Also, for the same theme, I received this absolutely delightful card from CraftyLittleMonkey!  I love the use of ribbons and yarn on these little guys! (and the salty watercolor background is lovely)!

Thank you both so much!!

This stunning card arrived from MandyKaye for my "Moon on a string" theme!
It's really hard to photograph, but there are also the most tasteful sparkles I have ever seen within the sky of this card. I love it so much, thank you!!

I received this beautiful card from CuriousFae for my "Pierrot Lunaire" theme!!

It's the English text translation from the very beginning of the work by Stravinsky. I LOVE IT!!!  Thank you!!

6  Madame Pele Custom Pullip in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mountains and Clouds on: September 01, 2018 11:55:17 AM
Over the summer, I was inspired by the energetic persistence of Kīlauea's recent eruptions. I had a Pullip MIO who was yet to be customized, so I went to town giving her a new face-up and body art in a volcano theme.

Her tats are 'Ohi'a Lehua flowers. (Sadly, right now, there is a fungus killing a LOT of the native 'Ohi'a trees Sad )

I had a wig ready for her, but I actually like her as is.

7  Colorful Paper Dolls in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Mountains and Clouds on: September 01, 2018 11:38:42 AM

Just for a fun thing to do this summer, I decided to carve a new paper doll stamp...

I know I could probably just photocopy drawings, or create a digital one and print, but there's something aesthetically pleasing about hand-stamped prints.

It's also fun to color them in. I used prismacolor markers on a heavy watercolor paper--I like the way the ink can seep into the paper.

Thank you for looking!

8  Kenner Blythe Hair Re-root in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Mountains and Clouds on: September 01, 2018 11:19:17 AM

I had been looking (for a long time) for a good candidate to re-root with some of my own hair which I chopped off several years ago... and finally found one! She had a beautiful original scalp and hard cap, so I went to town.
Since it's human hair, I used the knot method which I think is more tedious, and looks sloppier underneath. It also takes up more space, so I'm currently not using the hard cap.

Some progress shots of the long and slow process:

I was originally going to give her a haircut, but I kind of like her crazy long hair, haha!

I'm so glad I get a small grace period to post these projects! With school starting, and all this weird extra PD, and then the crazy hurricane we had barreling toward us last week, I completely lost track of the time and I cannot believe it's already September....Anyway!...

Prompt: July: the Road of Trials

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points:

Project Name: SD outfit

Project Link:

Brief Description: I am not a sewist in the least bit. I do not have the patience, and just like recipes, I cannot follow patterns. I always end up messing something up or not having what I need or whatever... But I had this naked SD size doll who needed some clothes, so I used bits and bobs of patterns and free-hand guessing to at least get her in this ensemble (the cape is attachable with snaps).

Prompt: July: Atonement with the Father/Abyss

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points: swaptastic

Project Name: House-shaped ATCs

Project Link:

Brief Description: I made these ATCs based on a prompt here in the craftster ATC swap. A ham can/tear drop trailer, and a yurt.

Project Picture:

Prompt: July: The Meeting with the Goddess

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points: swaptastic

Project Name: Powerful figure ATCs

Project Link:

Brief Description: These were made for prompts in the craftster ATC swap... the Moon is a very powerful figure, and the other was based on a vision the recipient had (the drawing is based on an specific Native American, whose name is evading me right now, from the Delaware tribe).

Project Picture:

Prompt: July: Temptation

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points:

Project Name: Red ridge bowl and jar

Project Link:

Brief Description: Something possessed me to buy red clay to play with, even though I know it's rough on my hands and so very messy to clean up... (At least I can find a use for these things outside or in the garden...)

Project Picture:

Prompt: July: Apotheosis

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points:

Project Name: Oboe Reeds

Project Link:

Brief Description: Here's my obligatory once-per-season oboe reed post... It's a highly-advanced skill, and has taken many years to develop (and, I'm still not always happy). Reeds as they are...

Project Picture:

Prompt: July: Bonus: the Ultimate Boon

Team: Heroes

Bonus Points: community

Project Name: Rutile miso bowls

Project Link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=455892.new#new

Brief Description: Soda-firing of a lighter-colored clay body, close to porcelain. It's clay that was hoarded, and then I forgot what it was, but re-hydrated it and used it anyway.

10  Miso bowls - soda fired in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Mountains and Clouds on: September 01, 2018 10:45:32 AM

I used a clay body very similar to porcelain and a rutile glaze in these bowls. The soda firing is not as exciting, but it's different, as it turns the bare clay more of a grey-ish color (instead of white as it would at cone 10, or orangy as a lot of clay bodies do in the soda).

I think one of my favorite parts of these bowls is the beautiful scarring from the wadding on the bottom:
