1  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 66 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by theintermission on: January 25, 2011 11:03:26 AM
I got some awesome goodies in the mail from mimiw.

I requested a roll up makeup brush holder and she sent me a BEAUTIFUL roll and *bonus* pouch!  Here they are:

It has enough pockets, not only for my brushes, but also my liners, mascara and tools!  It's so well made, durable and beautiful!  I love it!

The zippered pouch is big enough for my to put the brush roll and all of my other products.  But why do that when the roll is so pretty?!

mimiw, thank you SO much!  I love it!

2  Chocolate Disaster Cups in Dessert by theintermission on: January 20, 2011 01:18:30 PM
Does anyone here read Martha Stewart Living magazine?  I love it...but no matter how hard you try...I guarantee nothing you make will ever look as good as hers.  She must be some kind of magical creature.

Anyway, to prove my point, I tried to make homemade chocolate peanut butter cups that were mentioned in the February 2011 issue.  This is how they turned out:

I couldn't get the paper off without the cups completely falling apart.  I'm sure it would work if I made the chocolate on the sides thicker but at this point, I've lost all interest.  I'm going to use the chocolate bits to make cupcakes tomorrow.

I was frustrated...I even had to blog about this experience.  Hah.  I could post a tutorial on how to make these if you'd like...just kidding...

3  Dutch Pancakes! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by theintermission on: January 13, 2011 02:16:35 PM
I just found out about Dutch/oven pancakes!  I can't believe I'd never heard of them!  I hear they're similar to Yorkshire pudding...but better!  They sort of taste like a cream puff....yummmmmm.....

3 eggs
2 tbsp melted butter + 1 tbsp for pan
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup millk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp lemon extract
pinch of salt

It's best to use a seasoned cast iron skillet but a cake pan or any 8-10 inch pan will work...as long as it's oven safe up for 425 degrees!

Start by preheating the oven AND the pan, greased with a little oil, to 425 degrees.  While those are heating, beat eggs until light and frothy, add milk, sugar, extract, salt and 2 tbsp butter.  Mix until combined.  Fold in flour.  The mixture will be lumpy.

When the pan is hot, remove it from the oven, melt the remaining 1 tbsp butter in it, swirling to coat the entire bottom.  Then, add batter to pan and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden and puffy.

I have this posted on my blog.  Go there for a pretty version  Smiley

4  Scrubby Bunnies! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by theintermission on: December 10, 2010 03:43:28 PM
Hi everyone!  I had an account on here years ago but I forgot the username so here I am with a new one!

I recently made a tutorial for "Scrubby Bunnies," sugar scrub cubes that make a great gift.  It's a play on "chubby bunnies," the game where you see how many marshmallows you can fit in your mouth and still be able to say "chubby bunnies," but no one seems to get the reference!  Oh well.

You can find the tutorial here: http://theintermissionart.blogspot.com/2010/12/scrubby-bunnies-tutorial.html

Tell me what you think!
