1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / badly worded search engine question on: May 17, 2005 01:56:42 PM
So I'm confused. Basically my question is this: So if I start a site called xyz.com, and I wanted to sell my line of clothing, abc clothes; and my line of stationery, 123 stationery... would people be able to find me? Like if you owned a tshirt by abc clothing, and searched online for that, would you get anything? Because my site is called xyz.com, not abcclothing.com...

I think I just made that question ridiculously complicated-- you know what I mean, right?
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / online business book recommendation? on: May 05, 2005 12:19:35 PM
I am thinking about starting a website to sell things I make, and have found lots of valuable info on this board regarding lisences, taxes, etc. I'm looking for a book that covers online business. Amazon has SO many, and I can't really tell by some of the descriptions which ones would be a good reference for my purposes. Since so many of you have done this, do you have any recommendations?
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / poster swap interest? on: March 24, 2005 09:29:40 AM
I know this really should go in the swap section, but I was afraid not enough screenprinters would see it there. Would anyone be interested in doing a poster swap? I was thinking everyone would print a bunch, and send one to everyone else, since nobody just prints one poster anyway. But I guess the mailing could get pricey with tubes and whatnot. I guess everyone could send to one person, who could then distribute so you would get all your posters at once, but I don't think that is allowed. ideas?
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / light table on: March 07, 2005 10:16:00 AM
Hi everyone. I know this topic has been mentioned in other posts, but I haven't been able to find the info I need. Does anyone have really specific directions on building a light table/exposure unit? I know it is a frame with glass over, but how many bulbs, what type, how far apart, etc? I plan to expose large screens for prints that are about 18x24. I would appreciate any info and/or tips on how to build this as well as the best way to test for exposure times. Thanks so much...
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / screenprint on glass? on: February 27, 2005 01:06:12 PM
Does anyone have any experience printing on glass? I think it would be really cool to print on a large mirror, but don't know what type of ink wouldn't flake off, and am wondering if the right type of ink would be too toxic to do at home. Suggestions?
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / to expose large screens? on: February 27, 2005 01:04:16 PM
I have been researching the various methods of exposing screens in this board, and I am concerned that hanging a lightbulb over the screen won't work as well for large screens. (18x24 or so). Does anyone have experience with this? Should I try building a light table?

Thanks!
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / screen fabric- what kind? on: February 25, 2005 10:22:43 AM
Can anyone tell me how to decide what kind of fabric to buy for my screens? What are the differences? Also, aluminum or wood screens- do you have a preference? I think I used 10xx in school. If I am looking for fabric on ebay or ordering online, what should I buy? I plan to print on paper.

edit- also what kind of emulsion to buy??

Thanks!
