11  Re: 4x6 Art Swap Rd 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sylwa on: February 04, 2014 07:54:13 AM

My partner didn't include her username, but I just love the piece she sent me!

Please forgive the poor picture, the yellow light is washing out all the pretty subtle blues in the middle.  It is a gorgeous piece for winter, and it SPARKLES!  (Sadly, it does not show up in the photograph.)  Seriously, there is glitter or something embedded in the canvas.  How did you do that?

Thank you again for the wonderful piece!

That one is from me Smiley I forgot to sign it and include a note I wrote! All of my kids, including the husband have been sick and it's just been too crazy around here and I rushed to the PO at the last minute Cheesy

The glitter, I just rubbed it into the canvas after it dried and then sprayed everything with an acrylic sealer.
I had so much fun with this. I never painted on canvas before and I loved it so much I already bought bigger canvas to work on a piece for my living room. I also got a custom order from a friend when I showed her the one I made for you.

I am so glad you liked it Smiley

here is a picture I took of it before I sprayed it and it shows the glitter a bit better. Although the colors are washed out in the photo.

I have just received her package today and everything is so great! She spoiled me with extra coffee too Smiley

On to the pictures

here is the whole package: 1/2lb banana coffee and 1/2lb cherry coffee - smells so good! 2 smaller packages of coffee. Needle book, coffee sugar scrub, little notepad and heart shaped lotion bars

the needle book open, she even included needles and safety pins!

notepad/coffee journal

and close up of the lotion bars, these little things are so cute and smell amazing and are just overall awesome Smiley

Thank You SO much KimmyLynne82! I am also very sorry I am sending mine late!

14  Merida's dress for a birthday party in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Sylwa on: March 05, 2013 08:43:39 PM
Hi everyone,
my daughter is obsessed with Brave and princess Merida and she decided she wanted to have brave themed B-day party, dress included.
I never worked with velour before and it was terrible. I had no idea there was such thing as nap and therefore cut the fabric out how the pattern pieces fit - the final dress looks like it's made of two different shades of green now. Learn something new every day lol
I also didnt use correct needle and thread so I had lots of problems with the velour bunching up or just not sewing evenly and that caused a lot of ripped seams. I was so ready to just throw the whole thing in the trash and buy her the dress at toys-r-us. BUt I ended up finishing after all.
There are few details that I didnt have time to finish like the collar and sleeves as I was working on it till the last minute - morning of the party. Spent 2 nights sewing. The lack of sleep about killed me.
Never again am I doing this. Ever.

That being said, I love how the dress turned out. Wish I had better pictures.

16  Re: Halter dress help in Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions by Sylwa on: February 07, 2013 07:03:21 AM
thank you for the advice everyone. I ended up just putting elastic in the back part. I think I cut the back too low but it works for backyard summer play. It will fit much better this summer as she's grown a bit and there is lots of room because of the elastic.

Glad it got to you ok, PurplePaisley! I am always so paranoid when mailing things.

Here are pictures I took of the fabric before I mailed it. I really wish I had more time and could use it all, but I am very happy it went to a good home and it will finally find use.

also I am going to try to rush to the PO now with my thank you, hoping they dont close on me. If they do I will mail tomorrow! I finally have my car back from the shop. Yay

20  chair cushion covers, silky red and gold chinese dragon fabric in What the heck can I do with THIS? by Sylwa on: January 25, 2013 09:27:05 PM
Hiya, a long time ago I bought this set of chair cushion covers in my local thrift store thinking it's a great fabric and I will totally use it for something. Well it's been 3 years now and I can't look at it any longer. I need to make something from it. I have 6 covers total, the fabric is on the heavier side. Ideas? I was thinking a purse but I am not really much of a purse person
