i have been knitting a tonne of hats lately... they are a great portable project which is what i need... onto the pics.
This one i JUST finished. Its knit with Patons Classic Wool Merino same as all the other hats here too

This first hat i just wrote a pattern for it and it has its own thread... the link is
Black and white checkered hat
This one was knit for the guy wearing it

i used basically the same numbers for every hat just changed up the stripes and what not... except for the checkered one.. its alittle different..

I have never really used slipped stitches as a design feature so this hat was my experiment...
I have  had a request for a pattern so sometime in the near future I will probably write one... but its pretty simple really.
Yarn used- Patons Classic Wool Merino
             - Noro Kureyon

Thanks for looking. please ask any questions you want!

44  SLAYER baby... in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: September 28, 2007 01:07:37 PM
I knit this hat for my friends new baby last winter but it was too big. (i had never knit baby stuff before) so i reminded them of the hat and the mom found it the other day and she said it fits perfect!

so here is an action photo. you cant really see the SLAYER i embroidered on the hat, i think i might have another photo of just the hat kicking around somewhere..

EDITED to add- and the hat on something boring and ugly...

oh, Slayer is a heavy metal band that effin rocks. the dad is a fan... i want to make more "metal gear" for the little guy cause he rocks it so well..

thanks for looking!

this is my chunky weight version... i think the button i used is coconut...  its perfect color for the green.

up next is a blue one.. and another green one...

EDITED to add- i actually decided to use a leftoer ball of MEGA super chunky yarn by King Cole i had in my stash.. it worked up really fast... like an hour..

im going to give it to a girl i work with... i think she would like it.

47  new knit gear for a hippie! *pattern added for armwarmers* in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: September 18, 2007 11:11:43 AM
so my little hippie friend has been bugging me for some knit legwarmers... so as i was feeling sad and uninspired i was searching around craftster as usual... and i came across the secret garden tam. i knew she would love it so of course i had to get to a yarn store asap. and while i was there i found some great yarn that inspired me to start her legwarmers.... and then, i stil had yarn leftover so i knit her some armwarmers...and i even have a little bit left so i think i will make her a headband of some sorts... so onto the pics!
thats the link to the secret garden tam
both armwarmers
a closer look at the front of the armwarmer

The legwarmers.. they are actually pretty bell shaped.

The tam is knit from patons shetland chunky, 2 balls of it. and then i used Patons Rumor for the pom pom, the leg warmers and the arm warmers...

I told her she didnt have to wear everything together, that its all just knit out of the same yarn because thats just how it happened... but, shes crazy and says she'll wear it all with pride hahahahaha
thanks for looking!

-for armwarmers
Patons Rumor
on 10.5us dpns
-Cast on 21 sts
-join in round careful not to twist k1p1 across row for 3 rounds
-knit across for 3 rounds
-then turning your knitting so to purl back across the row (this will create a hole for the thumb)
-knit a row (still not joining)
-join back in round and knit a round
-continue in stockinnette st for 7 inches from needle to cast on edge
- knit 5 sts, make 1 st, knit 10 sts, make 1 st and knit 6 sts to finish the round
- knit until piece measures 9 sts from needle to cast on edge
-switch to dpns 1 or 2 sizes smaller to make a little bit of a tighter ribbing for the end of the armwarmers and k1p1 for 5 rows
-cast off loosley
-weave in ends

make 1 more and thats it...

48  I made a Secret Garden Tam... thanks for the pattern loudxmouse! in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: September 13, 2007 03:58:40 PM
ok, so  the instant i saw this hat i KNEW i had to make one for my friend... i knew she would flip! so, i was broke as hell, but my mom gave me money for groceries.... dont worry i did get groceries... but i also got YARN!!!!  hahaha... im a bad child... but it had to be done...

and ways... heres the link to the original thread.... its the cutest hat in all the world.. https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=194445.0 i forget how to fancy link it.... oh well same dif...

on to my hat... it is knit with patons shetland chunky yarn.. and i had to go up a needle size for the hat part cause the required needles were currently in use on another project in another house...

i had issues with the pattern, so instead of waiting for help i just did.. k3 rounds then the purling round, then k3 rounds, then the purling round.. etc, etc....
but this isnt right. so my hats a little different... no big whoop... the recipients not even going to know... hahaha
  ok onto pics!

the main color is called earthy brown
and i used patons rumour for the pom pom.. which by the way is my first pom pom ever... weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

the recipient is a earthy granola type...   with long dreads that are going to look fab with this hat!       im also making her some legwarmers out of the patons rumour yarn...

thanks for the great pattern.. it makes a fabulous hat!

so i was recently at Burning Man in the Nevada desert and one of my friends had shown up with a wonerful new hair do... and she said she did it herself... so  was like.. hey wanna do mine?

its basically the same but its really short all over except for the bangs area... gotta keep my security blanket..

i think she did a marvelous job considering my hair was disgusting, we used crappy scissors and it was in the middle of a dust storm!
