11  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Involved but awesome halloween costume idea! on: October 23, 2005 12:21:11 PM
I just had to share my idea with all you crafty people here.  Next halloween I'm definitely being the white witch from the new Lion the witch and the wardrobe movie.. Yes I know the movie hasn't come out yet but I'm a narnia nerd! I can't be her this year because 1) I already have a costume 2) I want it to be perfect and 3) more people will know who I am after the movie comes out anyway.  Here's some pics of her. I can't wait until next year!

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / pumpkin hat curly-que on: October 11, 2005 07:37:30 PM
I want to make a pumpkin hat for my friend's son, but I've yet to find a pattern with the little curly-que attached.  Any ideas about how I would go about knitting one? I was thinking about adding in a piece of wire but I'd rather it be bouncy.  Any ideas?
13  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! on: October 11, 2005 02:48:45 PM
I've been having some trouble coming up with a halloween costume ideas for myself this year. So when I came up with being Lydia from Beetlejuice I was excited. I love the movie!  My question though is how recognizable is this character alone?  It would definitley work better if I could get my boyfriend to be beetlejuice but I don't think he would want to.  Any costuming ideas would be much appreciated!
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Graduation gift for brother? on: April 18, 2005 08:56:41 AM
My brother has taken a while to graduate so I wanted to make (or buy) him something special.  Any suggestions?
15  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Queen of Hearts Bikini gripe! on: March 30, 2005 07:17:59 AM
I made one of the C cups for the Queen of Hearts Bikini (I tend to be B or C) and it's tiny!! It loooks like a little kid size. Any one else have this problem?  I want to do another but now I'm thinking D might be too small! (i have never been a D in my life)  Any suggestions? Huh

oops I forgot to add that it could be because I used a different yarn.  I used Cascade Fixation same weight.  I just knit up 24 stitches and it's only 3 and 3/4" instead of 4.  But it looks great. Could I just add some stitches to the next try?
16  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / What should I make for a silent auction? on: March 24, 2005 07:52:05 AM
I'm having major brain blockage.  My Ballet class is having a silent auction during/after our performance to raise money for future costumes and whatnot.  My instructor said we could make stuff but I think(it being a silent auction and all) that I would want to make something bigger. I can knit, bead, tie-dye,batik, sew (i have a machine) and paint I"m pretty crafty so I'm always willing to try a new project. Any ideas?

Sorry I know it's not really a charity, especially compared to what others are doing but it seemed like the best place to post
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Eclectic look.. First apartment! on: March 20, 2005 04:41:15 PM
Does anyone have any tips for an eclectic look?  I am not afraid of color and I'm a big fan of the eclectic look.!  Any suggestions for a living room, bathroom kitchen, and teeny bedroom?  We are allowed to paint and the landlord is buying it for us!  It will be my friend and I and her 2-year-old.  Any suggestions for a little boys room?  Links would be great too.  My friend has most of the furniture we will need so most of the changes will be rugs, wall paint, curtains, and small embellishments.  I'm so excited.
18  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / First Book.. SNB or SNBN? on: March 18, 2005 05:14:12 AM
I'm new to knitting but picking it up quickly!  I'm poor and can only get one of these books right now. Which is better?
19  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / What Kind of thread for machine quilting? on: March 16, 2005 07:24:53 AM
I'm a beginner at quilting and just got my sewing machine to work. I'm starting a quilt with just simple squares but they'll be in a pattern.. the squares are only about 2 1/2" on each side. Do you think that would be too hard for a beginner?

Also my  biggest question is do I have to use quilting thread? I was just curious what the difference between that and all-purpose thread is.

Any advice would be lovely! Wink
20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dying Corderoy on: March 14, 2005 05:54:42 PM
Has anyone dyed corderoy?  How well does it work?  I have this pair of tan corderoy pants that has turned an ugly yellowish color so I'd like to dye it, but I don't know if I'd have to bleach it first or not. I'd probably dye it a dark color like a Royal Blue but I'm afraid the brown would turn it muddy.
