21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / "I'm SO Grateful!" Notecard/stationary swap on: November 21, 2012 01:48:03 PM
As everyone knows, it's the Holidays Cheesy  We drink, have fun, eat until we burst (every day) open gifts, and make merry with our friends and families. And then the house empties, and everyone goes home, we feel so grateful to have that time with them.

  DON'T SEND E-CARDS THIS YEAR!!!

                        Be Old School!!

Give your family and friends (and possibly co-workers  Wink) a physical representation of how grateful you were that they celebrated life with you this season. Send them a hand made note card or a message written on custom stationary! And for those who don't celebrate Holidays, just send a note saying "I'm Grateful you're in my life!" Keep the communication open! Let your families know that you took the time to write a thoughtful note just for them  Smiley

I'm thinking Sweat Shoppe Style, Like the previous note card swap hosted by CraffADDchick. Send 8 note cards or 10 stationary pages and envelopes for all. Probably after Christmas Tongue ONe week sign ups, two week crafting. Send by late January?

   Whatcha think?

DETAILS OF SWAP:

I want this to be a fun, relaxed art swap so everyone will have a month and a half to craft. I know it's holiday season soon and I don't want anyone to be stressed about completing a project and entertaining family too ^^ (unless you can do both). Don't be afraid to sign up because you think you're "not a good artist". There's NO SUCH THING! Art has no rules and Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder! Besides, the only way to get better at anything is to PRACTICE. With this swap you not only get to do that but also make somebody's day by giving a one-of-a-kind original art piece. So please have fun and stretch your artistic muscles but make sure to spend a goodly amount of time making the art the best it can be. After all, this will be hanging in somebody's home.

~ This swap is an ANY MEDIA art swap. Anything goes! Embroidery, graphic arts, wood burning, pastels, charcoal, paint, decoupage, crochet, knit, quilted, glass etching, metal etc. ANYTHING goes as long as it can hang on a Wall Cool

~The only requirement is that the size be 11x14 or smaller. Or, if it’s decided between partners, you may do a series of smaller pieces of art but please make sure it’s agreed that the swap is equal on both sides. In other words, one participant might send an 8x10 and might receive 5 ATC’s. This is NOT equal. Please use your best judgment Grin

~Each member will be sending to TWO PARTNERS (double the fun Wink ). If you have a member that you already have in mind to swap with, please let me know and I will pair you accordingly. I must receive BOTH questionnaires first before you’re paired. After that, you may begin to craft early, if that's what you wish to do ^^

~Extras are NOT required but certainly encouraged. It should be discussed between partners first though. (I don’t know about anyone else but I always feel like a schmuck when I receive a boatload of snacks and/or extras and didn’t send any Tongue )

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO POP INTO THE THREAD EVERY WEEK AND LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING IS COOL, EVEN IF IT'S JUST A QUICK WORD OR TWO! Smiley Or, if it's not, you can tell me that too. (Or gozer if you feel more comfortable with that.)

QUESTIONNAIRE:

24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Multi- Partner Small Wall art swap? on: August 18, 2012 11:01:00 AM
So I'm getting ready to move soon-ish and I'm getting excited to cover my walls in beautiful new hand made art. A lot of my crafter friends seem to be moving as well and I figured what better way to say "Welcome home!" than a piece of hand made art?

~The Art size would be no bigger than 8x10. Any medium (I.E> Canvas, paper, hoopla, ATC collections, Quilted wall art, wood burned, mixed media, oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, ink, markers, yarn, recycled soda cans---WHATEVER! Cheesy)
~You could chose if you want one, two or three partners
~A month and a half crafting time
~Probably sign-ups in mid september and send-outs Beginning November (to avoid Halloween crunch Wink )

I've never organized before but I'm willing to try if there's enough interest. Any ideas, suggestions for change, or volunteers to organize/co-organize please comment below!
25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / 2012 First Poppet swap of the year! on: February 29, 2012 04:49:15 PM
Okay I have a pile of poppet eyes staring at me in my craft room with no designated body and I can't stand it anymore.  Cheesy Anybody up for participation in the first poppet swap of the year?
What should be the theme? How many points? Extras?
Throw out your ideas (or not) and we'll see what becomes of this!  Smiley
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Tarot card swap WITHOUT the "Tarot" on: October 17, 2011 09:33:44 AM
Inchies/Atc's are too small and wall art is too big. So what's in between? 4x6 cards of course!! I got the inspiration from the Ongoing Tarot swap. The cards themselves are 4x6, perfect for framing and setting on a mantle or hanging in groups on the wall. But I'm not of the Tarot using type  Wink So how about a general card swap?
I'd be hosting this after the holidays I think. Too much on my plate right now although they'd make great stocking stuffers  Grin
Now a few questions for the readers to contemplate:
  1) Should this be a "claiming" swap where person A posts their themes in the thread then Person B claims them for a theme and posts their own and so on? ----OR---- 2) Should it be organized like a regular swap and have each partner make a set number of cards? ----OR---- 3) Have each person send to TWO people---basically groups of three. (Since the cards would be light weight I don't think this would be too strenuous on the pocketbook if sending to two people, even if they're out of the country.)
There would be a two week to a month crafting time depending on how many cards are made. 4 or less would be two weeks. 5 or more would be a month.
    Whatcha think?
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Yataaaaa!!! Heroes Swap (the TV show) on: July 05, 2011 10:25:31 AM
I've been watching the old TV show Heroes lately on Netflix and I admit I've become addicted. I think it would be a fun challenge to try and craft from it. It would probably be a 4-5 point swap around late august if I organized. Any interest?
28  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Steampunk Islander Poppet on: June 27, 2011 09:34:30 AM
Dis' be my beautiful poppet, a little bit steampunk, a little bit Island and wholly pirate. She roams the seas, taunting men with her beauty and stealing treasure from under their noses.
She arrived at the Isle of Man a few days ago and was abducted my the Little Sister.  Cheesy I'm sure she couldn't be happier.
The photos below are of a mostly finished product. I made a neat chain mail belt for her waist, gave her hair some decorations and also changed her bottoms to a flowy white skirt the same material as her shirt. But this is the overall idea of the nameless Islander poppet ^^

Close-up of her hair. I wove it around "knot" style. I was really happy with that experiment. Really gave her the "islander" persona.

My best yet! *sniff* SO proud! It was really hard to let her go  Smiley But I'm assuming she'd happier being surrounded by her true love....the Sea.

29  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Aramus and Ellimere--in love and on the run! on: May 16, 2011 02:30:50 PM
For the Plethora of Poppets swap I made a pair of star-crossed lovers, one human and one decidedly not.

Falling in love was forbidden for Aramus, ESPECIALLY with a human. As a Court Guard he was supposed to have loyalty for only one person: His Leige. But upon meeting Ellimere he knew that a solitary life was not for him anymore. So they ran away to the Lone Star State to be with Melerrific, their new care-taker and Guardian. ^^

Here's a good shot of Aramus's sexy abs and chest ^^ All needle sculpted.

Close up of coat (for squire_inaria). It has a full back and a slit up each side. I literally sewed it on him wrong side out then turned it right side out once it was done. This was the result....

I didn't get a pic of Ellimere before she was shipped but her hair is styled slightly different and I put flowers in it ^^ Maybe I'll borrow one form my partner when hse posts.
30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Stupid Lamb/ Masochistic Lion on: May 07, 2011 04:42:02 PM
Sooooo, for my Twilight Swap I made Edward and Bella---with a twist.
"So the Lion fell in love with the Lamb."~Ed
     "What a stupid Lamb."~Bella
 "What a sick Masochistic Lion!"~Ed

That was one of my partner's favorite quotes so out of that came these:

You can't really see it but Edward really does Sparkle and Bella has a cute orange backpack that held the mini dream catcher inside. I'm uber proud of them since it was my first time making clothes  Cheesy

  Thanks for lookin'!  Wink
