1  joan jett tee remake & neko case painted skirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by purple_angus on: September 01, 2008 01:51:06 PM
hi everyone! i got a chance to see joan jett play about a month back and came away from it with a rad t-shirt. i decided to play around with the fit a little bit instead of doing my standard sew-in-the-sides-and-done laziness. so tell me what you think!

back! i decided to turn the shirt around so that i could cut the front lower without working around the logo.

close up of neckline and sleeves. i left all the edges raw because i wanted it to be a little punk in honor of ms. jett.

neato guitar snake picture

and a skirt that i painted a long time ago. neko case is like my icon in life. she's so gorgeous.

close up of the paint job. i'm not much of an artist but i'm happy with it.

thanks for looking! xox

2  shirt + skirt + dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purple_angus on: May 07, 2008 08:51:04 AM
OK. first up a shirt i made this weekend. for some reason i had in my mind that this fabric was really thick and soft and planned to make a hoody out of it. then i took it out of the bag and... it wasn't. so it morphed into a little summer shirt thing. it's the kind of thing i see in the store and think is cute, but i don't buy it because i know i could make it... and then never get around to making it.

i started out with some random hoody pattern, i think it was burda, but it has been changed beyond recognition. made the sleeves short and puffy, made it fitted, added a band on the bottom, and made the hood HUGE. ANYWAYS pictures:

me in the shirt. looking flossy.  Wink please ignore the heinous state of my house in these photos. we're remodeling.

with hood up.

this one is a bubble skirt i made with cute fabric i got from value village. it's thin quilting-type cotton. i've been told by several people it looks like a couch, but i think it's cute!

me in skirt

me in skirt after my mom told me i look boring with my arms hanging down.  Smiley

detail of fabric and bottom edge. it's hard to tell because of the fabric, but the bottom where it attaches is twisted to the side.

and this is a dress i made for my cousin's wedding a few years ago. it started life as a vintage skirt, but it was very tiny and very long. i made a basic strapless dress from similar material (black linen blend) and hand stitched the crysanthemum pattern on.

and after.

thanks for looking!

3  The "Pop Your Collar" Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purple_angus on: January 30, 2008 01:22:34 PM
so. i've been lurking around this website for roughly one million years and finally decided to post something. this is from Burda 7949. i highly recommend the pattern, i really liked it BUT if you decide to try it, buy more fabric than it recommends. i wasn't able to cut the pieces on the crazy grains they specified because even though i bought the amount they listed, it wouldn't have fit. anyways... here's the pictures.

front view

and keyhole/collar detail.

made with some pretty purple cotton i found in the quilting section of my local fabricland. a nice, light dress... just in time for the huge dump of snow we got on the weekend. oh well. it's canada, what can you expect?
