1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'm fairly new to knitting, can anyone help me with this pattern please :) on: November 10, 2012 10:15:58 PM
Hi craftsters Smiley

So I'm fairly new to knitting, so far I know how to do the knit stich, purl and stockinette. Thats all lol. I would love to do this pattern (picture with link) however I do not know how to do that border, I can do the stockinette. Can anyone help me out please Smiley I already have the yarn for it I have a thick and chunky yarn by lion brand, but my needles are size 5.0 I hope thats okay. When explaining can you make it as simple as possible I'm still learning how to read the patterns. Saying row one: k1, p1, k2, p1 is fine I'm good with that.

3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Questions about acrylic paint/fabric medium silk-printing onto black shirts on: November 10, 2010 02:32:58 AM
I was at Micheal's today and wow screen printing ink is expensive, while acrylic isn't and comes in a wide verity of colors, so I looked up on the internet and it says it will work with a fabric medium turning the acrylic paint into "fabric" paint.

I'm making a shirt and it's a black shirt, I bought metallic colors and a white matte just in case I needed it to make the metallic colors show better and more vibrate. Also I'm using the embroidery hoop with organza (type of fabric) and mod podge glue method.

My questions are
- Have you ever used acrylic paint with a fabric medium? What were your results?
- The fabric medium's bottle says that there is a chemical in it that is "know to cause cancer" do you wear a mask?
- When washing will the color come off the shirt and ruin my other clothes in the wash?
- When I heat set it do I flip it inside out or put parchment paper on top and then iron over?
- Do I need to have the white to make my metallics show better?
- If I need to apply the white paint can I just wash it off and use the metallic color after or do I need to retrace a new screen?
- Any tips on how I can make my shirt look great since I'm using a black shirt instead of a white one?

This is my very first screen printing project and very excited. I haven't gotten my fabric yet to do it. There is like nooo useful information on the internet and I thought about this site and it seems like everyone on here knows what their talking about.

Thank you<3
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Hiii I'm new to the site and was wondering if some sewers could help me out on: October 20, 2010 09:32:01 PM
I've seen some of your work you do with t-shirts and it is simply amazing Smiley and I'm happy I stumbled onto this site. I'm going to admit I'm horrid at reconstructing t-shirts a lot of them have ended up in the trash Sad

I was wondering if you could show me how to reconstruct a t-shirt to look like this:
I found this shirt on forever21.com and thought it would be easy to do for a beginner, but it didn't turn out well. So I'm wondering if one of you awesome t-shirt reconstructors could do a tutorial for me and others that would like a top like this thanks Smiley

I haven't posted over 10 times yet.
