A hat i made last week:
For some reason, you can see it better without the flash:

My sister was married on Tunnels Beach on Kaua'i last summer, and it POURED! (Right until the end... when they got a beautiful double rainbow.) So, she used a red umbrella up until she started "the walk." Sad part is, the umbrella broke. But we didn't want to get rid of it because it's her wedding umbrella! So, i was trying to think of things i could make with it. The first, obvious choice: market/tote bag. But she's got purses and bags out the wazoo, so she didn't need any more of those. Then, i got the idea of making a hood. It rains a fair amount here, and she ALWAYS complains. Especially when she's forgotten to wear a jacket with a hood. I'm pretty positive she'll never actually use it, but i think it's kind of cool, anyway. (It doesn't look quite as weird as it does in the pictures, if you're wearing it right...)

It wraps in front of the neck, partially so it won't fall off, and also to keep your warm. I used the snap to close it. And it's lined with some fleece i had in my stash.

And here's what i'm working on:
This shrug.
I want to make a full sweater someday, so i'm easing into it.

So, a couple months ago, Fullmoon asked me if i would be interested in a personal swap. I said of course! We decided to send a monster stuffie that was big enough for cuddling. Cheesy
This is what she sent me (my favorite color is purple):

And this is the guy i sent her:

More mitts! I'm obsessed. I need action shots.

My niece was not enthusiastic about modeling for me.

This cowl is from baby blanket yarn. It is SO soft and pillowy! It's meant for an adult, but it's adorable on her. Cheesy

And my March-themed item! I actually went with the theme for once. Argyle (loooove argyle) and "green!" I love making these coffee cozies.

I've also got a bag cut out and ready to be sewn in the same argyle flannel and an organic cotton t-shirt.

With all the t-shirt scarves and bags i make using t-shirts... i've got tons of t-shirt material. All from the armpits up. I definitely have plans for the sleeves at some point. And i want to look into making t-shirt yarn out of the small scraps.

Finally finished all three of our hats for the St. Patrick's Day Dash. I didn't have enough of the kelly green, so mine was finished with the lime used for the stripes.

They're all supposed to be reversible, but the stripes do make it look a little weird. Oh, well.

Oh, and astormorray, your yarn is beautiful! If you ever want to swap some of your handspun yarn for something... just let me know.

My inchies:

After going to Kaua'i last summer, i fell in love with it. Though i'd been there a few times before, i never felt like it was a place i could stay for very long (the sun doesn't really like me, and i tend to break out in heat rash)... but this past summer, it just felt like home. I memorized the Hawaiian alphabet, started looking up Hawaiian words, worked on my pronunciation and even bought a Hawaiian dictionary because i just fell in love! Aaaanyway, i came up with a little mantra (i guess you could call it):

ahonui, lokahi, 'aka'aka
patience, harmony, laughter

I love German stuff. I had one of those day calendars with German phrases a while back, and i kept all of them in case i wanted to cut them up and make something with them.

It means "Today is a rainy day." It was raining A LOT while i was making these, so it just fit. Plus, i'm from the Seattle area, so it fits a lot around here. Smiley

"Tomorrow is another day."

I have found that you can take the ugliest fabric imagineable and make coiled fabric bowls that look great! I think that is why I am not able to destash...I know that every single piece can be made into SOMETHING!! Cheesy
Ooh, i want some of those bowls! Someday, i will figure out how to use a real machine (i have a tiny, little machine) and make myself some!

I feel like i've been doing more than my pictures show.
I made another of my little needle holder things for a friend with some Disney Princess and their horses flannel. I didn't get a picture before giving it to my friend, but it was cute. I have more of the flannel, so maybe i will make another.

I've been working on this hat:

I'm making a few green hats for my friends and me to wear for the St. Patrick's Day Dash. The stitch i used is reversible. The first two photos are actually the "inside." The last is the "right way." Here's one, i couldn't get good photos:

I made these hugs fingerless mitts the other day. My first time attempting that sort of thumb gusset. I didn't take good enough notes while i made the first one, so the second one came out a tiny bit shorter. Oops!

I made this shark bag for a friend. I want to keep it even though i don't care for sharks. It's nice and big! And i made it reversible! Cheesy

I used an old t-shirt for the inside, and it's kind of stained... but she likes the person to whom the shirt used to belong, so i knew she wouldn't mind. Wink
