201  Re: ACTIVE: granny a day MAY starts now! in Crochetalongs by bananaleg on: May 13, 2011 04:45:21 PM
Awesome! I'm up to 66 squares for the babyghan. I'm so happy with how it's turning out. I just hope my friends like it.

I put the dress on immediately after opening the package, but over my workout clothes, so it was hard to see how it actually fit... It is nice and roomy and perfect for the upcoming summer! I tried it on again after i showered today, and i noticed the pockets, too. I love that they match!

I know this thread is about destashing, but i totally need to go hunting for vintage sheets! I'm going to make myself a dress before summer is over.

kittymom, this picture is mostly for you (i don't see an open granny-a-day thread, so i'll post my progress here). I have 37 squares done for my friend's babyghan. Smiley This isn't necessarily how it will be laid out when it's finished, i just threw them down for the picture. By the way, what's the best way to connect the squares?

P.S. I love your April blocks! And not just because i'm an April baby. I love clouds.

203  The Wills: A Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: May 03, 2011 12:26:18 PM
I had this idea for a hat inspired by Ron from A Very Potter Musical, but the only red yarn i had was BRIGHT... It turned out fun, but it was just a trial run sort of thing. (I ended up getting other yarn, if you want to see the final Ron hat, feel free to look here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=378661.msg4484894#msg4484894)

I still liked the hat. I put it on my 3-year-old niece, and it looked soooo cute on her little head! She and i sat down to watch the royal wedding (she really wanted to watch a real princess's wedding), and i noticed Prince William's jacket was red and blue... darn near the SAME red and blue i used on my hat! I got pretty excited. Then i noticed gold trimmings on the jacket, and i thought, "I should crochet some gold (yellow) onto the hat!"
I think it really changed the look of the hat.

And after. I'm calling it The Wills.

(She was watching the wedding, hence the intense face.)

Wow, thanks, everybody! I got the hat idea in my head, and i just had to do it!
Same with the mitts. They are knitted. I used a mock cable stitch (can't seem to find the site right now, but i'll keep looking for it).

Those Harry and Ron magnets are great! I love that exchange. Cheesy
Voldemort marionette!! TOTALLY AWESOME!!
Ooh, and i love a good poppet. But an AVPM Harry poppet? So. Cool!

And here's what i got from Opaka!

This totally awesome bag with one of my very favorite lines!

My acceptance letter to Pigfarts from Professor McGonagills! I need to frame it!

My very own Ron!! (He is supermegafoxyawesomehot.) I love that he's so ready for a hug. I need to make him a Harry. Cheesy

And a handcarved Red Vines stamp!! (Seriously, so cool!)

Group shot:

Thank you so much, Opaka!!

It looks great, craftylittlemonkey! I'm sorry your fingers hurt!

I can't wait for the pictures, Spiffyhink!

I've been looking for a slipper pattern than i could fall in love with for a while now... and i finally did!
The pattern calls for cotton, and the only cotton i had was Sugar 'n Cream. So, it's not the most comfortable on the bottom of my feet when i'm on a hard floor... but it's getting better the more i wear them, and i'm sure washing them will soften them up a bit.

I've had the buttons forever because i just couldn't part with them (even though they're pretty much always in stock at Joann) until i found the right project. And i believe these are it!

They left me with sore fingers. I was sure i would be blistered somewhere, but no blisters! Huzzah!

I've been saving all of my yarn scraps because it's just so much yarn going to waste otherwise. I've decided to make something out of it. I'm thinking just a crazy scarf, but i have nowhere near enough yarn for that yet. So, if any of you have yarn scraps (or acquire yarn scraps), i would love to take them off your hands. I want yarn from as many people as possible. Smiley

I've been mostly working on swap projects lately, but i've managed to work on some side things.

This TARDIS hat:
I don't know why it turned out so big... I must have been knitting looser than i thought? Oh, well.

This crazy, bright hat:

Most of my granny squares:
And a granny pentagon:

208  Re: April 2011 Birthday Swap - Gallery and Discussion in The Swap Gallery by bananaleg on: April 21, 2011 12:19:22 PM
That fairy/gnome door is awesome.

I received from LillianPearl yesterday! She claimed me for a tote bag, handcarved stamps, and buttons.

It's fused plastic bags, and she added a TARDIS! I loove it!
Also, the lining is the same color as the nail polish i'd put on just a little bit earlier:

Cupcakes, clouds, rain drops, a banana, and mustaches. So perfect.

An umbrella and rain drop and a banana.

I already used the bag last night when i ran a couple errands. Can't wait to use the rest!

Thank you so much, Aria!!

I received from icebyrd67 on Saturday and can finally post the pictures!
She sent me some fun color yarns: (I've been needing red and yellow, so that's awesome!)
Homemade soap (for reals about to go use some of this now):
They all smell so good!
And pretty buttons:

Thank you so much, Julie! Can't wait to put all of it to use!

210  Iwan Rheon/Simon Bellamy: A Sketch in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by bananaleg on: April 14, 2011 11:07:35 AM
My friends got me obsessed with a show called "The Misfits." I'm sure plenty of you know about it.
Anyway, they first introduced me to it by playing some of Iwan Rheon's music for me. So, of course, i'm now in love with him.

The other night, i just didn't feel like knitting or crocheting or sewing... i just got this urge to pick up my sketch pad. I haven't drawn in months, but i wanted to send a picture of something fun to my friends.
I should note, i've never been good with making dark lines. In all of my art classes in high school, my teachers always had to push me to go darker. And i didn't spend a whole lot of time on it, either. (Honestly, i tend to lose interest after i've finished the features and get around to drawing the jaw and ears and hair...)

Here he is:

I pulled up this photo () on my phone and then drew it.

And this is the picture i sent my friends:
