1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Xenomorph!!! on: November 02, 2011 06:25:38 PM
Heyyyy there! There are so many cool & unique costume entries, I'm having a blast checking them all out!  You all are amazing! Grin

So,  my 13 year old son decided about a week and a half before Halloween that he NEEDED to be the Alien from the movie Alien.  He had previously told me that he wasn't interested in dressing up this year because he's "too old."  So of course...I thought I was off the hook.  Undecided   Yeah...right.  Anyway, since they don't make Xenopmorph costumes, I was informed that he was "challenging" me to make him this costume.  haha!

It took a lot of sleepless nights, about 50 hot glue sticks & hours of googling Alien pictures...but I think it turned out ok.  He was happy, and that's all that matters, right?   Roll Eyes

The mask is made of 2 plastic canisters, a laundry detergent bottle, a bike helmet & paper mache'
The chest & back piece is 2 lumbar supporters from the dollar store, a pleather jacket I found at the goodwill, some pool hose and a lot of foam pipe insulation & black duct tape.  The tail is the foam pipe insulation, wire coat hangers, duct tape & cardboard.  Grin

I wish I had gotten more pictures but he had to rush off to a Halloween party...

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / "Your Song" Wall Art on: February 25, 2011 09:56:49 AM
Hi everyone!  Grin This is my first time posting a project of my own. All though I've been enjoying looking at all of the beautiful projects that you all post on a daily basis.  This community is amazing and inspiring!

I made this for my mom as a Christmas gift.  It's a line from her favorite Elton John song.
Mixed media on 9-8x10 canvases. (paper, decoupaged tissue & acrylics)

Sorry about the crappy cell phone photo.
