21  Two Stenciled Doctor Who Shirts in Stenciling: Completed Projects by zzdia on: July 28, 2012 08:20:40 PM
Hey, all. Cheesy I can finally post this because my partner has received! Cheesy

First up is a shirt for the shirt swap:

(this image grabbed from the swap gallery because I didn't get a decent pic of the front of the shirt)

The idea really began with this part which was copied from a stamp design my partner had pinned. This was my first time working with freezer paper and I loved how I was able to make a really long design and it was sooo much easier to work with than sticker paper. I am so sad that I can't find freezer paper here, but am glad that craftsters have sent me freezer paper in swaps. I played around with the stamp design and left only two hearts on it so that it would stick with the DW theme.

Added the TARDIS after. Than I ambitiously decided that I had to have some Gallifreyan on it. After a long afternoon of tracing and cutting and painting, I had this on the back of my shirt:

I decided to go with the white parts because it looked like that would be easier to stencil. Of course, I wasn't staring at the image when I was sticking some of the inner islands on, and I got some of them placed differently. Oh well. This is the first time I've done a really intricate (and small-ish) stencil and I'm pretty chuffed with how it came out.

Then I decided to make my own shirt using the same Gallifreyan design. I put it in the back, but at a larger scale because I decided to actually paint the lines. I like to think of it as my geeky Gallifreyan tramp stamp shirt. Cheesy

Here's a really bad pic (taking pics of your own back is freaking hard!) to show  how it looks on:

Here's an in-progress shot with the freezer stencil in place:

I think I must have been slightly insane to take this on. They were all little islands! I did it circle by circle, ironing pieces on as I was cutting them because I would have mixed those pieces up if I hadn't. And those pieces were crazy small.

And a final picture of the finished design:

All in all, I'm glad that I got to see how crazy I could get with stencils and I love both shirts so much.

Received yesterday! Cheesy I love everything!

First is this awesome Once Upon A Time shadowbox.

Sorry if the pic isn't that great, it's so hard to take pics of glass. T_T Look at all the teeny details! I love it.

Then these two wearables: Warehouse 13 scarab on a friendship bracelet and a Stargate pendant(!!).

I love the colors whenindoubtsew used for the bracelet, but the Stargate pendant has to be my favorite thing. Now I can go out and declare my total geekiness on a chain (and I already have the perfect chain for this). Thank you so much whenindoubtsew! Cheesy

I just realized that I never posted a pic of what I received from TroubleT. She sent me a crochet newsboy hat and some alphabet beads. Don't mind Bas (the stuffed hound), he's just letting me use him as my hat model.

Thank you so much, TroubleT! The hat fits perfectly and I'm excited to make prezzies with the beads.

I received from PlumCrafty and I was sooo spoiled! Here's everything she sent still in their wrapping (and two postcards! Cheesy):

(please ignore the random stuff above)

Everything unwrapped:

See all the extra stuff she sent me! A pouch, necktie wristlet (my phone fits in it perfectly!), Brit tissues and ribbons, and a handcarved TARDIS stamp.

Here are a couple of my favorite pages (sorry for the pic-spamage)

Again, thank you so much, PlumCrafty. I plan to read through and savor the journal this weekend. Cheesy

26  Singapore vacation shadowbox in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by zzdia on: June 23, 2012 03:16:56 AM
Hi, all. Cheesy

I saw this pin on pinterest with a tutorial to make shadowboxes for vacation keepsakes (link to tutorial) and decided that I had to do that for the stuff I'd collected from my Singapore trip with a couple of friends last March.

Here's my new shadowbox hanging on the wall:

The letters, I just did them with some pics from the trip and a bit of work on gimp (really, any photo-editing program would work). I just made a textbox with the the letters in the font and size I wanted on one layer. And put the pictures in another layer and just used alpha to selection on the layer with the letters. Inverted the selection to delete the extras outside the letters. I used a tutorial I found somewhere, but I've lost the link.

I like being able to move stuff if I ever change my mind about anything, so other than the letters (they were printed on photo paper, cut out, and glued to the paper), everything else was just clipped on.

The box I bought for around 250Php (~$6), the paper and the clips were from my stash and the getting the letters printed was 12Php (around 25cents?) and assembling it all took about 4-5 hours. It's a really cheap and fun way to display souvenirs.

Mine are loose pages for now. I'll bind them after. That huge thing at the back is a calendar that folds up. Looking at them now, I realize I have to journal more. It's already mid-month, yo.

28  Re: International Snack Swap 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by zzdia on: April 25, 2012 07:18:37 AM
Posted in the wrong thread. D'oh!

I received from MissingWillow! She sent a box and an envelope full of snacks (the box was especially amazing since she packed every inch with something and I couldn't put them back in after). Of course, being me, I forgot to take pics before I ripped them open. Roll Eyes

Dark chocolate and chocolate with toffee! Love them both. And the easter bunny chocolate box is too cute. A Superman PEZ dispenser (I always wanted PEZ when I was a kid but we never bought them because they're too expensive here, now I get to taste them). The container is Maxwell House latte (which probably won't last long since I love coffee. Snoopy bandaids, caramel (!!!), pop tarts (yay, it's a different flavor from the one i got in the previous snack swap), ooze pop, and haribo golden bears! The crumpled foil thing at the top center is the wrap of a Cadbury creme egg that I ate driving back from the PO. Couldn't resist.

More gummies: sluggles, lifesavers, adn soda poppers. Corn nuts, dark chocolate kisses and sour dots. I forgot to include the ring pops in the picture (I've always read about them in books and this is my first time actually trying them.)

MissingWillow actually sent me something I sent her (and another somewhat similar). It's kind of funny. You guys will see when MissingWillow receives her package.

And here are the lovely crafted items (plus an extra dino keychain):

Ok, you can't really see the crafted items because one is overturned and the other has to be up close to really appreciate it.

It's a wishes in a bottle necklace! And a bazinga pendant! I have these pinned on my pinterest and I am so amazed with them. Especially the wishes (yes, we call them wishes, even if I know they're dandelions)

Thank you so much for an awesome swap package, MissingWillow! Hope you like yours too once you receive.

I received my supply package from ollieorange! Cheesy

I love the variety of leather she sent and I can't wait to make some cuffs from them. She also sent a bunch of embroidery thread and two glass tube findings that I already have ideas for. Thank you so much, ollieorange!

I'm sorry this took forever to put up. It's been a hectic month for me. Here's a picture of my bookmarks:

The Lord of the Rings bookmark from MimbleWimble6 (pictures do not do justice to how awesome this bookmark is)
The knit bookmark and modgepodged bookmark from astrangeone (I love the color of the knit bookmark and the other one glows in the dark!)
And a lovely drawn bookmark from imera (which is just so me. It has the sky and the sea and dolphins and underwater scene!)
Thank you so much to all of you gals! I'm still holding out hope the one from antidigger will still arrive.

And here are the bookmarks I sent out. I think astrangeone hasn't received yet so I'm sending out again this week. I would've sent last week but I was at my grandparents' place for the past week.

A crochet pokeball bookmark thong for astrangeone, an leather ocean plait for MimbleWimble6, a cross-stitch bookmark for antidigger, and a colored pencil drawing for imera.
