4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / whats that strapping called or what to use? bag straps on: February 23, 2011 10:42:41 AM
Hey everyone. Had a brain fart on an idea for a bag.however its military style and I would like to use the strapping used for rucksacks and messenger bags. Any ideas what its called?or does anyone have and ideas on best fabrics to use. I have only ever used suede on the only bag I have made.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Newbie Jordy with zipper attempt ... finally completed on: February 16, 2011 12:05:40 PM
So i had high ambitions for my mums Christmas present and decided to attempt to make her a bag (using Jordys square bag tutorial and inserting a zipper)...the first one i completely mucked up putting the zipper in however the pattern sat alot more central on it. This is the second and finished attempt. Its not great but mum loves it and her friends even asked if i would start making them to sell. Unfortunately my sewing skills have alot of room for improvement...so i declined...for now  Cool

Its lined with a brown silk and the outer material is upholstery with suede trim, gusset and handles. It looks much better filled, unfortunately i forgot to take photos before giving to my mum, so these are her photo taking skills  Lips sealed Please go lightly on me  Kiss

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / How to do padded hearts without 'corners' appearing on: February 04, 2011 09:07:41 AM
Having a bit of a situation with padded hearts. For my sisters 16th birthday i had decided her 'homemade' present would be a window sill/ headboard garland of padded hearts withthe letters of her name on each. Easier said than done...i sewed perfectly and they came out as if they had 'corners' when turned right-way-out and padded.

Any help or tips very much appreciated
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Vintage/ Shabby Chic Table Runner on: January 12, 2011 08:25:08 AM
Hi everyone. My dining room is currently a blank canvas, so i started my first little project! took me about 5-6 hours when DS was in bed (DH is away, hence the time available haha!)

Im unsure wether to add some big wooden buttons at the ends with a possible cream bow? or do i just leave it like this? Excuse the bare table and cake tiers (knitting cakes to put on it Cheesy)

Also for placemats im considering recycling wine/champagne corks, slicing them into circles and making pressed flower panels, arranging the corks around the pressed flower panel on each (into a rectangle) and spraying the cork with a crackle effect cream paint?Huh

Any hints etc much appreciated!
