3  halter and tshirt -> tshorts in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cowsgoMOO on: May 24, 2005 11:26:11 PM
being the procrastinator i am, i reconstructed clothes instead of doing homework. they're nothing special.

this is out of a shirt that i never wore. i probably still won't wear since i don't really wear halters.

these are a pair of a shorts i made out of a tshirt and a piece of scrap fabric.

i made them out of a tshirt and a piece of scrap fabric. it's practice for another shirt i wanted to make into shorts. i'm not sure if it's worth using another tshirt for..

4  Re: my first not-formalish dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by cowsgoMOO on: April 18, 2005 08:51:04 PM
thanks everyone! i used simplicity 5221

i'm sure you can find a dress pattern that's similar that's not so formal, or figure out how to do the top and a skirt and attatch them together.

for the back i just sort of winged it since i didn't know what kind of closure to use. after sewing the dress together, i left enough room so i could slip it on and marked how far down i wanted to opening to be. and then i cut open the back like this:

then to each piece i sewed a strip of the fabric like this

(black line is where you fold down before you sew it)

i then added velcro to the pieces but i'm sure you could use something else.

then to cover up the stitching on the straps that went on top, i sewed on a 'bow' which didnt really turn out like it was supposed to Embarrassed here's my crappy tutorial for the bow:

5  my first not-formalish dress (now w/ tutorial for the back) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by cowsgoMOO on: April 18, 2005 01:39:52 PM
my spring break just started [yea i know, kinda late] and i haven't made any plans yet, so i decided to make a dress. since i'm too young to drive and my parents have to work i had to use stuff from around my house. i happened to have a pattern that my sister was going to use for her prom dress but didn't. so here it is:

back again

close up on the back

it's supposed to be a zipper on the side, but i cut open teh back and used velcro since that's all i had. the velcro is under the 3 strap thingys that go across the back.

i just made this for fun and don't really plan on wearing it. so what do you think?

edit// tutorial for the back is on the next page

so i've finally finished the dress i've been making for my sister. i don't really like how it turned out but i guess it'll be okay. it was my first time using a pattern and it left me very confused, but i eventually figured it out. i used : http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4712.htm?tab=&page=1

7  first clothing reconstructions in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cowsgoMOO on: March 19, 2005 11:18:13 PM
these are my first attempts at reconstructing clothes. nothing special but i guess they turned out okay.

this was a long sleeved shirt and bits of a black tshirt

this was resized. originally XL-ish (minus the brown l/s shirt underneath)

skirt from an old pair of pants

and of course a matching bag from the pant legs

so, what do you think?

this is the first sewing project i've ever done.

it was made out of a denim skirt, an pair pants and an old sheet. the pissed off calvin is from an old shirt. it isn't that great, but i guess it turned out okay for my first time on a sewing machine Smiley feedback would be nice Grin

9  spike, the three-legged sock...dog? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by cowsgoMOO on: February 23, 2005 05:29:39 PM
okay this was my first stuffed toy. he's made out of a pair of socks. he only has 3 legs since i got lazy and didn't feel like sewing on the 4th leg. Cheesy he's wearing the toes from toe socks on his feet, but they're really there to cover up the horrible job i did sewing it up Embarrassed his ears tend to stick up and he doesn't really look like a dog..but o well Grin
