1  COOKING / Dessert / canoli filling! on: January 05, 2011 02:16:02 PM
So I wanted to try and make a canoli filling and I found a super simple recipe
online that was just ricotta (dried), powdered sugar and vanilla and mini
Chocolate chips, the taste was there but the super creaminess and texture of
Canoli filling from our local Italian bakery wasn't there.

So does anyone have tips and/or a really good recipe that's just like
the real thing?

Thanks and much appreciated!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My Mini Messed Up Shawl! on: January 02, 2011 08:15:47 PM
So I thought I would make something for myself and as I had not
yet tackled a shawl, I thought I would attempt to do so.....

Unfortunately I didn't have enough yarn and between that and
the texture of the yarn itself, it didn't come out exactly right
but it's warm and functional....

The original pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80877AD.html?r=1

So it didn't come out quite right and is a bit small but what the hey, it's a warm
shawl to wear while crafting. Plus the nerd in my likes to buttons lol.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Gift Ideas for a Crafty? on: November 26, 2010 04:59:00 PM
So my sister-in-law is a super crafty, she even taught me how to
crochet. She crochets, knits (not very much), sews and does a
whole bunch of other stuff and prefers to make her own stuff,
so what does one crafty give to another crafty for Christmas?

The only thing I could currently think of was a gift card to
JoAnne fabrics, or an online craft store that has an abundance
of specialty yarn and other goodies. But I was hoping for
something a little nicer and perhaps practical. Does anyone have
any ideas?
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Does anyone have a recipe using ground turkey? on: November 12, 2010 10:48:06 AM
Does anyone have refreshing recipe for using ground turkey that isn't meat loaf,
turkey burgers, or scotch eggs? I need to spice up my current menu, I'm a chicken,
turkey, and tofu person and the variety in my recipe box is getting old, any new
recipes are very welcomed. Thanks in advance!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ipod touch cozy on: November 04, 2010 09:40:06 PM
So sadly after about two years of knitting and about a 6 months of crochet
I've managed to avoid doing a cozy, but alas, I've succumbed to the cozy...

At least my ipod touch has a little warm home to retire in, in the cold
upcoming winter months.

My first cozy:
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Melanie Daniels from The Birds! on: October 13, 2010 04:12:40 PM
So last year I was Melanie Daniels from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

I pieced together the outfit from thrift shops and craft shops and
had a great time with it (unfortunately I couldn't find or make a
green sheath dress and jacket like the one Tippi Hedren worn in
the movie, in time). By sheer luck and fun, the bird that i sewed
to my shoulder would move and peck my face when wiggling my
