51  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Boogie With Stew? on: February 25, 2006 05:37:47 PM
Just tried this recipe tonight and it was the easiest to make and a pretty good stew.
We used 2 lbs of meat.  Hubby likes his meat.

5 Hour Beef Stew
    2 lb. stew beef
    1 lb. baby carrots
1 lb. potatoes (peeled and cut up)
    2TBS. oil
    1 onion (chopped)
    pinch of salt and pepper
2 can Campbell's golden mushroom soup
    1/2 can water

Preheat oven to 275. Put oil in bottom of a quart sized pan. Add beef, potatoes, baby carrots, onion, salt, pepper, soup, and water. No need to stir. Cook covered for 5 hours.
52  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Where can I get Retro Sock Monkey Flannel??? Ugh!! Ack!!! on: February 25, 2006 08:38:52 AM
I have been looking high and low and I know this is a discontinued print but I thought I migiht be able to track it down if I knew who carried it and the manufacturer.

It is a retro sock monkey fabric with a blue background.  It is not the Moda stuff.

I want to make a rag quilt for my little girl with it.  She loves monkeys.

53  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Asian Delight Overalls on: November 13, 2005 07:43:47 AM
I made these overalls for my 2 year old Daughter out of some used overalls and scraps of fabric I picked up at two rummage sales.

I was to make her a Chinese Take Out purse to go with them and a folded flower headband.

When I get them all done I will take a photo of her in them.

54  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help with Hair Coloring Please on: November 11, 2005 05:49:02 PM
I am so strapped for money and can't afford to go to the salon any more to have my poor greys hidden.

I usually had my hair colored using shades but would like to do it at home.

I have never dyed my hair by myself and would appreciate any pointers.

I think I would be using a demi permanant color?  I an a dark brunette and last time I had my hair dyed it was a dark brown w/ reddish highlights that mainly only showed up in the sunlight.

What should I use?  Brand etc - and how do I go about coloring my hair.

55  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Baby/Kid Swap Again? on: July 10, 2005 09:11:26 PM
I missed the sign up for the last Baby/Kid swap and would love to have done it.

Would anyone be interested in doing another?

I am terribly disorganized so I wouldn't be a great organizer.  Roll Eyes

56  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Folded Flower Hair Barrette Question on: July 10, 2005 08:49:02 PM
I am addicted to folded flowers but I can find a suitable hair clip to attach them too.

What does everyone use and how do they attach it?  Hot glue?

Thanks!!!! Grin
57  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Machine Applique Help on: July 10, 2005 08:40:31 AM
Hi Everyone.

I was hoping I could get a little help w/ some machine applique.

What kind of stabilizer would I use for t-shirt fabric?

I want to applique w/ heat and bond or wonder under onto t-shirt fabric then satin stitch around it.

58  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Machine Applique on T-Shirts Help on: July 10, 2005 08:36:27 AM
I was wondering if anyone has done machine applique on T-shirts.

This is what I would like to do.

I cut out a large letter L template (My 2 year old, Lydia's initial) and I want to applique it on a t-shirt w/ wonder under and the satin stitch around it with my sewing machine.

What kind of stabilizer should I use?

I posted here because of the satin stitch is machine embroidery.

I think I will post in the quilting forum too now that I think of it.

59  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Daughter's Hair Bling on: July 06, 2005 03:22:52 PM
I followed BeastBunny's tutorial https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24944.0 (thanks Jeanna) for folder flowers and this is what I came up with for my 8 year old Daughter.

(also posted under the tutorial)

I have a feeling I will be making a lot more of these in my future.
