21  Crocheted Wire Celestial Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mandykaye on: August 28, 2017 07:30:03 PM
I made this necklace for my partner gala_apples in the latest Necklace Swap!

I had several different types of star charms in my stash so i went with a celestial theme. I made the beaded crescent moon pendant to contrast all the stars. The stars are silver and antique gold colored to contrast the copper colored wire I used for the chain and pendant. I used various glass beads in blues and white/clear throughout the chain. I used a nylon coated wire for the chain and it was a little harder to crochet with as it kept curling.

Overall, it turned out to be quite a statement piece! Its a bit longer and the pendant is about 3" long! Its pretty sparkly and makes kind of a nice tinkley noise lol! I hope my partner can get the necklace to fully relax so its not so curly, but I think with a bit of stretching it should (hopefully). And though it looks heavy, its actually quite light!

Thanks for looking!

22  Re: Necklace Swap 2017 GALLERY (Sendouts Aug. 14) in The Swap Gallery by mandykaye on: August 28, 2017 07:08:28 PM
Thanks so much emilywilde!

Gozer, I hope all is ok with you!!!

I received my necklace from gala_apples today!! She was inspired by some tassel necklaces I had on Pinterest!

The "chain" part is made from fabric/cord trim, so pretty! I love the neutral colors of this! I wear a lot of darker colors usually so this will be a nice contrast!

The natural looking elements are perfect! Thanks so much gala_apples!!

Thanks to all my partners for a wonderful swap! And thanks so much gozer for organizing this!!!

23  Re: Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 25 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by mandykaye on: August 27, 2017 09:24:44 PM
Took Dino fishing today at the park about 5 miles from our house. We went there for a birthday party and stayed to fish for a bit. No luck catching any fish, but it was nice and relaxing!

25  2017 ATC Creations in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by mandykaye on: August 23, 2017 02:21:04 AM
I've created many ATCs in 2017 swaps so far, and I usually forget to take photos before I send! Here are some of the ones I must've liked enough to take photos of before sending LOL!

Most of these are made using dylusions inks and various pens and acrylic paints.

Thanks for looking!!!

(Update through September)

Here are a few more that I sent out in ATC swaps recently!

This is the front of a Twilight themed ATC. This is a photo I took in Forks, WA.

And this was the back with a quote from the movie/book.

26  Crocheted Wire Choker with Tree of Life Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mandykaye on: August 23, 2017 01:54:10 AM
I made this necklace for my partner bunny1kenobi in the latest Necklace Swap! She likes chokers and steampunk style. I'm not very good at creating steampunk style, but there were a few other things she listed that inspired this creation!

I crocheted a thin, sturdy black wire to the designated length. I like how it looks like lace! I then went with some colors that I knew she likes and created the tree of life pendent using more black wire, blue and black glass pearls, and a soft satiny red acrylic flat round bead for the sun. The wire looks wonky in this picture, but I hadn't quite finished shaping it Wink

This was a little challenging for me with crocheting the wire, but I feel it turned out pretty well in the end! And I'm not one for chokers, but this has me tempted to make one for myself Wink

Thanks for looking!

27  Tribal Wooden and Stone Beaded Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mandykaye on: August 23, 2017 01:41:59 AM
I made this necklace for  my partner La Chapa in the latest Necklace Swap! She likes natural materials and I was inspired by some similar style necklaces seen on Pinterest!

I happened to find the wooden circle bead at a store and had to drill another hole so I could thread though the circle. I had some of these enhanced jasper stones in my collection as well as all the other findings. I used wooden beads, hematite spacers, and the the blue beads are glass. Its a longer necklace (about 28")! I originally planned to make it shorter but found it actually looked better hanging lower (in my opinion).

I really like how this turned out and since I have a couple more of these wooden circles,  may have to make one for myself Wink

28  Crystal Point Double strand Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mandykaye on: August 23, 2017 01:33:02 AM
I made this necklace for the latest Necklace swap for my partner whatthepuck. She likes crystals and I actually have a few in my too large jewelry making stash.

Its more a faux double strand as its mostly one chain with a half beaded strand. I used some different glass bi-cones and hematite spacer beads. I had a titanium coated quartz point that had the purple-ish hue that went more with her favorite color.

I actually used fishing lure swivels for the connectors of the two strands! I bought them awhile ago when I was perusing the fishing section with my husband. I have used them for various projects, they are sturdy and very inexpensive!

Thanks for looking!! I had fun making this necklace!

29  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- August 2017 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by mandykaye on: August 22, 2017 11:20:33 PM
Oh wow! That is really cool! (If only I knew how to cross stitch lol) I probably could learn, but have never really had enough patience to try!

I received a super spooky cool Pinterest inspired ATC from greybird today!!!

This is one of my favorite Halloween images that I found on Pinterest somewhere! Greybird captured it perfectly! I love the spooky trees against the orange sky! And those Jack-o-lanterns are creepily cute! I like the whispy lines of the grass and vines too! My camera makes it look kind of streaky, but in real-life the coloring is very blended and the lines are sharp!

Thanks so much greybird!!!! I love this!
