1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Quilted Mug Rug on: January 12, 2011 06:08:43 AM
Wow, it looks great! Those curves are not easy and you managed them beautifully.

Your swap partner is lucky!

I had a good chuckle about reading how to do something first. My one New Year's resolution is to "read the manual!!!!", because after two years I just found out my machine has a speed adjustment function Smiley.

Love your skull quilt, it looks great!
Interestingly, I think it's really cheery and fun.

As far as the seams go, yours look just fine to me. I do treat the seams the same way as Maremare - iron the seam allowances in opposite directions so they nestle and match up almost by themselves.

I sometimes find, that even if  have cut my pieces to the exact size and sew an exact 1/4" seam, the block still ends up a little bit small. Probably because of the the fabric being taken up by the fold in the seam. If that happens I move my needle over one tick and actually sew the seam a tiny bit smaller than 1/4".

Sometimes a making a quilt can take just sooo long and I needed to just finish something. So an afternoon and a few bits from the scrap box later I had these little mug rugs.
Hope you like them.
